ATLANTA – Its official name is the “Safe Carry Protection Act.”
But critics are calling it the “Guns Everywhere Bill.”
At noon Wednesday, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal is scheduled to sign the sweeping legislation into law. One of the most permissive state gun laws in the nation, it will allow licensed owners to carry firearms into more public places than at any time in the past century, including churches, bars and government buildings that don't have security checkpoints.
The law also authorizes school districts to appoint staffers to carry firearms. It allows churches to "opt-in" if they want to allow weapons. Bars could already “opt-in” to allow weapons, but under the new law they must opt out if they want to bar weapons. Permit-holders who accidentally bring a gun to an airport security checkpoint will now be allowed to pick up their weapon and leave with no criminal penalty. (At Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, a record 111 guns were found at TSA screening areas last year.)
Americans for Responsible Solutions, the group co-founded by former Arizona congresswoman Gabby Giffords, has called the legislation “the most extreme gun bill in America,” and mounted an aggressive campaign against it. So have other gun-control organizations, including Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the group started by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.....

The bill is very popular in the state. The media is all over it. Complete freakout.
Sure sounds like crime in Georgia is all set to disappear.
I say we put the same restrictions on journalists as we have for those wanting to exercise their second amendment rights.
1) must pass a background check
2) must be fingerprinted and photo’d
3) must undergo “writing” training just to be sure they do know how to write
4) must only be allowed to write no more than three paragraphs with each paragraph containing no more than 500 words
5) must pay a “fee” for their journalistic license and this must be renewed every year. this may not be renewed however if said journalist did not write using facts. if found to have made up stuff or lied, they lose their license and face penalties and possible jail time. oh, and they lose their right to vote and ever write again.
Rozkomnazdor does that in Russia. Licensing the media might make it more responsible.
Its a greater threat to freedom than gun owners.
The media is the major threat to freedom in this country. Their selective outrage and Democrat fawning and gushing has placed us in this dreadful position.
The left is rallying against civil rights.
Since the media does a pulic service, it should be required to meet professional standards of governance and conduct.
The same stringent oversight the MSM wants to impose on gun owners should be placed on them.
After all, they’re the ones who say freedom is not absolute. What goes for the Second Amendment is equally no less applicable to the First Amendment as well.
Let them eat their own words.

If they oppose it, it is “controversial”.
If they like it, it is “needed reform”.
The two terms are nearly interchangable, and they make a huge difference in connotation.
It is how they wield power, and it is almost unconscious with them. Right out of 1984. Orwell said a good party member would know to do these things without thinking.
Any time you read an article with one of the terms, try substituting the other. It may suddenly seem to make sense.

Bias already exists. I’m thinking of leveling the playing field.

Gun crimes will drop in Georgia, but you will never hear about it in the lamestream media.

Uh, follow me closely, since it’s a......LAW......it will affect only the behavior of law abiding people, who aren’t the type to blast away at the wrong time anyway, so......
Putting the government in charge of deciding who can write is unlikely to reduce the degree of statist-sucking.
