ALVIN, TX – A two-year-old can make the case that her mom is a real superhero. Chelsi Camp took on a pit bull to save her daughter, and won.

It was the end of March and Chelsi was dog-sitting a friend’s Pit Bull who was friendly until he met her daughter Mackenzi.

“The dog came up and he was just curious and when he smelled her that’s when you saw it flip because I think he smelled my dog on her.” said mother Chelsi Camp.

The dog attacked the little girl, so Chelsi was forced to fight. Shoving her fist into the dog’s mouth and even biting off its ear. All while telling her daughter to turn over so she didn’t choke on blood.

“I only know to fight so how else do you get somebody to stop I mean I would do the same thing with a human being.” said Chelsi Camp.

Chelsi has bite marks up her arms. It took a while but she now has full use of them again.

I recall many decades ago when I lived at home hearing some barking and my mom yelling and through our window I saw this huge black dog in our driveway barking a few feet from our Male cat, who was standing his ground but obviously nervous.

Some very fast thinking reaction that I am still impressed with I grabbed a huge boot and ran out and nailed him with it and he ran like hell after yelping.

It was a very quick reaction with little thinking that worked out perfectly that I dont do very often.

LOL yep, that it would, but it would have to let go of the person it was mauling, of course you have to be ready to shove your fist down its throat as it turned on you...

Like ALL pittbulls it was friendly until the pit bull time bomb went off.

Any parent that leaves a two year old in the same room with a pit bull should have their child taken away from them.

It’s not just pit bulls. All dogs can react badly to babies.

My friend had to give his beloved Schnauzer away because it was growling & snapping at the new born baby. This was a friendly dog that I had been around several times with zero problems. The dog was jealous or afraid or confused, or whatever.

I would not allow my baby around any dog without me staying between the two.

Putting her 2-year-old daughter at risk pet-sitting someone’s pit bull is awesome?

Yes, that’s true—but that applies 10x with someone’s male pitbull that is being petsat.

I think it is imprudent to overemphasize the dangers of pit bulls, leaving ignorant people to think other dogs are much safer around babies. Even a Chihuahua can quickly kill a baby.

It sounds like the woman brought the baby to the dog’s house, an invasion of territory. Any dog will defend his territory against a loud, annoying, irrational acting “invader”.

No, tearing the dog apart is awesome. You never know when some random lower life form may attack for no reason.

The vast majority of maiming and death by dogs comes from pit bulls and their ilk. Clearly, the message about pit bulls needs to get out better than it has, though, yes, caution with other breeds is also in order.

And I don’t know, have any babies died from chihuahua attacks?

I think when you’re petsitting someone’s male pitbull, there’s more than the usual reason for caution—which would have saved this little girl an incredible trauma.

Boldness and braveness borne of interacting with pitbulls is the mark of someone with inadequate manhood and a poor sense of purpose or accomplishment.
