Rand Paul: Bundy’s racist remarks are ‘offensive’
Washington Times ^ | April 24, 2014 | Seth McLaughlin

Sen. Rand Paul distanced himself Thursday from Cliven Bundy’s recent remarks on race, roughly a week after the likely 2016 presidential contender knocked the way the federal government has handled the land dispute with the defiant rancher.

“Cliven Bundy’s remarks on race are offensive and I wholeheartedly disagree with him,” Mr. Paul, Kentucky Republican, said via Twitter.

"...he suddenly has no rights?"

One should have nothing to do with the other - it doesn't matter if he dislikes eskimos for cryin' out loud - none of that is relevant to what the Feds are trying to do to him.

Because saying something ‘racist’ is the worst possible crime one can commit in America today.

You really think that would make a difference? Here’s rule number one for Republicans. Never say the word “rape” and never say the word “slave” in reference to blacks. Never. They are both toxic. Stay away.

Now, Mr. Bundy isn’t a politician. But when he says something similar, no politician with half a brain is going to get anywhere near him.

I just heard some snarky liberal talk show host yammering about this not 20 minutes ago. They will try to use his antiquated views on race as a way to discredit his stand vs the government. Typical liberal demagoguery.

Clearly, ALL folks, black AND white (which constitute a majority of welfare "constituents") are better off on government ASSistance. As slaves, THEY'D HAVE TO ACTUALLY WORK.

On ASSistance (as taking it in the...), they can lie around and produce MORE welfare constituents for the demonrats.

If this process is not halted, THEY and WE will ultimately BECOME SLAVES to the elitist pigs who created this system.

A story to illustrate the point. It's been around before but it's always good to review.

It seems that an area in Arkansas was plagued by a particularly aggressive and voracious roving band of wild hogs for many years and, although the local residents were thoroughly disgusted over the destroyed crops, injured domestic livestock, etc., their attempts to destroy or capture the hogs had met with complete failure.

One day a stranger stopped at the local hardware store, purchased some tools and grain, asked how to get to the last reported location of the porcine marauders and boasted that he would capture them and claim the large bounty the locals had offered. Those who heard his boast laughed as he went out the door and boarded his wagon.

Two weeks later, the stranger arrived back in town with the entire herd trussed and squealing in the back of his wagon. Amazed and incredulous, the townspeople asked how he'd done it. He told this story:

"I located a clearing near where I was told the hogs might be and set out a large pile of grain. At the same time, I began erecting a fence just beyond the edge of the clearing.

"The hogs discovered the grain on the third day. At first, they sniffed around the edge of the clearing, nervously darting into the woods at the slightest sign or sound of danger. Then the younger, less experienced ones became bolder to the point of approaching the edge of the pile, grabbing a few kernels and dashing into the trees.

"After several hours of this, the young hogs began feeding in earnest -- no longer darting away with those few kernels. Seeing this, the older hogs soon began shoving the young ones aside in what became a veritable feeding frenzy. The grain was soon gone.

"They returned the next day at daybreak to a fresh, larger pile of grain. They displayed little fear as they walked right up to it. They returned the next day, and the next, and the day after that, all the while growing bolder and showing less and less fear. By the 10th day, they had completely stopped foraging in the surrounding fields.

"All the while, I was building the fence -- a corral, really -- during the times when they were absent. Soon, however, I was able to work even while they were feeding.

"Yesterday morning, while they fed, I closed the gate. They didn't even try to escape.

"I've been capturing critters this way for years and it always works. Why? Well I learned a long, long time ago that there isn't a creature on the face of the earth I cannot capture -- ONCE I HAVE IT DEPENDENT ON ME FOR ITS SUPPORT OR SURVIVAL!

Bundy lost a lot of supporters when he stepped in the race quagmire. His words were “ill chosen” to say the least.

To Rand Paul,

Here is what Bundy said:

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

Can you explain to me why that is racist Senator?

Can you with a straight face tell us that Clive Bundy WANTS blacks to be slaves a they were before the civil war?

Paul Ryan basically said the same thing about "Inner City" cultures!!

So now he has to go grovel before the Congressional Black Caucus.

So, if someone supposedly makes racist comments, he suddenly has no rights?

It all depends. Back in 1984 Jesse Jackson made a hugely offensive antisemitic remark: "That's all Hymie wants to talk about is Israel. Every time you go to Hymietown that's all they want to talk about."

That didn't seem to affect Jackson down at all.

So how is living on the demorat plantation with food stamps, section 8 housing, WIC, SNAP, EIC, Obamacare, Obamaphones, affirmative action, or any of the other 77 welfare programs different than slavery when the recipient has no freedom other than to vote for the “Man” to keep living on the plantation?

“In front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.

Sorry, everyone can just get all bent out of shape...his statement is essentially correct.

They don’t want to do anything because the gov’mnt is taking care of them.
He is slightly incorrect on the kids. They are sent to school.........where they do nothing except disrupt class.

Is he wrong on the abortion statement?
Is he wrong about the men going to prison?

Truth is ugly, but it isn’t racism.

Here is what they heard....

"Blah blah blah blah 'Negro' blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah 'slaves, picking cotton'"

The income tax made every man a slave, my friend. Everything else is just a different degree of slavery.

anyone remember the kids toys from the 80s called “Tiny Mighty Mo’? The commercial had an earworm lik]ttle jingle that said “Just one push and off they go”. That’s Rand. There he goes off adopting the liberal buzzword ‘offensive’ and using it to score political points.

The only time conservatives talk about ‘being offended’ is when they mock liberals. Does anyone here run around telling people how ‘offended’ they are?

When people use the language of the left, you can safely bet they are familiar with it because they are OF the left. Leftists ponder whether things are ‘offensive’. Non leftists wonder whether or not things are based in truth. Perhaps he needs to either learn to hide his true beliefs better. Or better yet, be open about what he really is.

Rand Paul was never “our friend” every policy and goofy opinion he has spouted recently is the same fare as always for him.

There are people on this forum who either wanted to believe he was conservative and a patriot, or wanted others to believe that. That requires folks to forget his history and ignore his continuing actions.

He is as he always was and the turd didn’t fall too far from the bull.

I agree with Bundy’s position on the BLM and detest the ridiculous and unnecessary overreach of the feds. But he’s also been his own worst enemy in some ways, and this is one of them. Mr. Bundy should get clear on what is important, and clam up about everything else. Sure he’s entitled to his opinion but when you’re the symbol of a greater struggle you will pay the price for shooting off your mouth on unrelated matters.
