Russia to call up UNSC meeting if Kiev continues military crackdown
RT ^ | 4-25-2014 | RT

If Kiev does not immediately stop military operations against popular protest, Russia will call for an urgent UNSC meeting and in the worst case scenario reserves the right to deploy armed forces to stop bloodshed, UN envoy Vitaly Churkin said.

If the violence in the southeast of Ukraine doesn't stop, Russia will call a special session of the UN Security Council, Churkin said in an interview to Rossiya 1 channel.

“If we will continue to see what we witnessed today, if the use of force against the protest movement in the east and south-east of Ukraine will continue, we will convene an emergency meeting of the Security Council,” he said, adding though that historically the UNSC was unable to reach a consensus on a number of issues.

Churkin reminded that Russia does not feel isolated at the UN on the Ukrainian crisis. “Even in the Ukrainian situation during a vote on the resolution in the General Assembly, nearly half of UN members refused to support this resolution.”

The rhetoric from Russia is getting harder. They made it very clear after the Geneva agreement was signed that they expected Ukraine to disarm Right-Sector. The problem is that the Ukraine Government IS Right Sector at the moment.

Unlike the rhetoric from DC, they might actually follow through on it.

Well, I guess, John (I served in Vietnam) Kerry has his answer.

Does anyone believe Putin? The man is as big a liar as Obama.

A lie. Right Sector does not have a single member in parliament. Though you are correct in making it clear that when Russia signed the agreement, they did so while planning to ignore the agreement by describing the Ukrainian government in its totality to be illegitimate, as well as its military. Hence, Ukraine itself must disarm and surrender to their Spetsnaz troops on the ground, who are yet attacking Ukrainian military bases, kidnapping and beating people, and killing others and dumping their bodies in the river.

You know, if it wasn’t maybe 3 or 4 posters stating the exact same thing over and over again with only Putin backed media as sources, you might get somewhere.

Look, at this point, posting the same stuff over and over again when it has no credible basis only hurts your credibility.

Can you please provide any evidence of Right Sector being employed by the government in any capacity with a link that isn't from a Kremlin controlled news website? And can you please name the Right Sector members in the Ukrainian rada?

I’ll say it again.

If you have a western source that meets with your approval, with near-real time reporting on the situation, I’ll be glad to review it, and post it.

Like it or not, RT is doing what the west isn’t. They are reporting what Russian officials are saying in near-real time, while the New York Times MAY mention it in 2 or 3 days.

Look, we all know RT is a propaganda outlet, but that doesn’t change the importance of knowing what the Russians are saying and thinking, does it?

This is BIG NEWS to them, while in the US, it is somewhere behind The Royal Clinton baby, and making fun of Bundy, because it may reveal the incompetence of THE WON.

And don’t you think Russian Officials stating something like this is important?

Well duh, it's a Kremlin controlled propaganda outlet. Of course they can get quick access to the head Soviet if they want to. That doesn't make it a news source.

Look, we all know RT is a propaganda outlet,

Then why are you posting it and repeating its lies as if they are fact?

but that doesn’t change the importance of knowing what the Russians are saying and thinking, does it?

If we're talking about analyzing Russian disinformation and divining their real intentions, sure, but that's not how you use these links, is it?

And don’t you think Russian Officials stating something like this is important?

Not when you start spamming the forum with their claims, taken uncritically.

Despite all of the stories posted on FR, you are still choosing to disbelieve?
Also, my condolences on your inability to search the internet, or Twitter.
Ask your boiler room manager how to do that.

‘They are reporting what Russian officials are saying in near-real time, while the New York Times MAY mention it in 2 or 3 days.’

A faster lie isn’t better than a slow truth.

‘Look, we all know RT is a propaganda outlet, but that doesn’t change the importance of knowing what the Russians are saying and thinking, does it?’

That’s a different issue. What they say is important. What they say however isn’t truthful.

My condolences that you apparently didn't bother to check your links to see if they could prove any of your claims. One of the links notes that Right Sector has about 2,000 members. Even Svoboda only gets 13 percent of the vote, in one link. Though they're actually polling in the single digits recently, I believe.

“What they say however isn’t truthful.”

Really? You mean like the US Government has been? Come on....
Like it or not, RT has been Johnny-on-the-spot during most events, with video, photos, and live tweeting/reporting, like today’s fighting.

So has The Interpreter’s live blog, but they don’t break down individual stories. So RT is what we have if you want to post while it’s happening.

Sorry you don’t like it, but there it is. It’s the digital age. You can wait for info to be filtered for your consumption, but I prefer to get it as it is happening.

I prefer to be informed, not led. That means multiple sources. If you don’t like RT as a source, you don’t have to read it, after all.

Well, of course. The other journalists from actual news sources are kidnapped and beaten. Only Russian propaganda sources have free access, and you get to see it all through the medium of their cameras.

Do you have ANYTHING at all to say about Russia may be calling another Security Council meeting?

Or are you just here to flame troll?

Tell you what, if you don't want your threads to derail, don't derail them by repeating stupid Kremlin lies in your posts.

‘Really? You mean like the US Government has been? Come on....’

If two different men slap me it doesn’t mean the second was a hug! By saying Obama lies you’re not turning Putin into Pope John Paul II.

Russia has been lying while they’ve sent forces across the border to foment revolt. Russia needs to pull back their agents and start being truthful if they want credibility.

‘Like it or not, RT has been Johnny-on-the-spot during most events, with video, photos, and live tweeting/reporting, like today’s fighting.’

Garbage in... garbage out. Again, if someone is lying to you, it doesn’t matter how fast they get it to you or how truthful a small portion of it.

‘I prefer to be informed, not led. That means multiple sources.’

Russia Today doesn’t count as multiple sources. It’s one source.

The Ukrainian coup government is illegitimate and I don’t want to see US troops involved in a cheap little conflict that may bring about WW 3. No US troops should die to legitimize the pukes in power in Kiev. As for Putin, he will do what he feels is in Russia’s best interest and why should we be surprised if he does?
