McCain: It’s a stain on America’s honor that we haven’t passed amnesty yet
Hot Air ^ | April 24, 2014 | Allahpundit

Skip to 43:30 for the key bit. Offhand, I don’t think I’ve ever heard him put it this way before. The “de facto amnesty” line is an old chestnut, the line about people in the shadows is a very old chestnut, but the idea that America has actually dishonored itself by dragging its feet in rewarding endless millions of people who broke U.S. law with citizenship is a new one on me. I wonder, does it mitigate the dishonor any that we amnestized them once already in 1986 and will surely do so again sometime soon? How much contempt for our own law do we need to show before the stain is expunged?

Does this guy … not care at all how this rhetoric sounds to people skeptical of comprehensive reform? Per his own logic, given the depths of dishonor we’ve already sunk to in trying to enforce our own borders, I can’t imagine why we would insist on any new security measures as the price for approving mass legalization. If there’s no way to deter people who are already here from staying — “they’re not going home” — why are we even bothering with E-Verify? It’s impossible to watch this and not conclude that the only reason McCain and his allies agreed to beefier security in the Gang of Eight bill was to sweeten the deal politically for skeptics, not because they think that security will work. Or even want it to.

And by the way, when I say it’s coming soon, I mean soon:

House Speaker John Boehner theatrically mocked his fellow Republican Congressmen for being afraid to reform immigration policy when he spoke Thursday before the Middletown Rotary Club in his home district.

“Here’s the attitude. Ohhhh. Don’t make me do this. Ohhhh. This is too hard,” Boehner whined before a luncheon crowd at Brown’s Run County Club in Madison Township.

“We get elected to make choices. We get elected to solve problems and it’s remarkable to me how many of my colleagues just don’t want to … They’ll take the path of least resistance.”

The House primaries will be over in June, at which point there’s nothing stopping Boehner from bringing a bill to the floor except his own fear of being deposed as Speaker. And maybe he’s not as fearful of that as we think.

Note, by the way, that McCain vows he’ll try to have any immigration bill that passes Congress named after Ted Kennedy. That smells like a cheap applause line given that he’s speaking here at Harvard’s Kennedy school of government, but he’s said it before. He means it.

evidently the biggest idiot and embarassment in the history of the United States Senate has never heard of this :

Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986

-legalized illegal immigrants who entered the United States before January 1, 1982 and had resided there continuously with the penalty of a fine, back taxes due, and admission of guilt; candidates were required to prove that they were not guilty of crimes, that they were in the country before January 1, 1982, and that they possessed minimal knowledge about U.S. history, government, and the English language.

About three million (estimated) illegal immigrants were granted legal status through this act

please mccain, do America a favor and resign now.

Has anyone figured out that 0 is offering $$$ for votes (or 72 virgins if the accomplish their mission) yet? I wish someone in the fray of all this, hopefully a senior senator with a conscience and a set of balls would come forward and tell us what carrots they are dangling behind closed doors or in the halls of Congress to get amnesty passed. Isn’t it obvious? I know it would guarantee Dem votes and control for years. What I want to know why specific members are acting the way they do about the issue when they were vehemently against illegal immigration and ready to erect huge fences in the Southern states in orevious years. Not conjecture but specifics.

Let’s see...
So far we’ve had-

Rick Perry
Rand Paul
McCain
Lindsey Graham
Jeb Bush
and John Boehner
dropping amnesty bread crumbs in the news.
The GOP is pulling out all the stops to make it happen this summer.
If Cruz ever goes amnesty it’s over.
I don’t think he will but I’m not willing to bet money on anyone any longer.

It really is a shame he was re-elected he is a
disgrace just like the rest of them.

He says he was elected to make choices no he is elected to represent the people and I would bet the majority of people are not for what he is selling. He is a failure in my book.

John McCain stained the Naval Academy with his rank stupidity, stained the Navy with five wrecked aircraft, stained his first marriage with another woman, stained his Senate oath of office with a savings-and-loan bribe, stained his Party with a faux Presidential campaign, stained our national honor by cavorting with cannibal jihadists in Syria...

McCain and other Republicans don't get it: The PROBLEM is not the 10-20 million illegals in the country now. It is the next 10-20 million illegals that will cross our borders in the next 10-20 years when once again pro-amnesty people will beg to make these lawbreakers automatic citizens.

1. Suppose tomorrow amnesty is granted to all 10-20 million illegals.

2. Does anyone believe that the crowds waiting for nightfall to cross the Mexican border will suddenly disappear?

3. If you believe that, then I have some ocean property in Nevada to sell you.

4. AMNESTY for 10-20 million illegals must be stopped at all costs, because such AMNESTY will only encourage and give hope to another 10-20 million illegals to cross our borders over the next 10 years. because they will know that if they stay long enough, FUTURE AMNESTY politicians like McCain will feel sorry for them and grant them AMNESTY like those who were granted AMNESTY back in 2014.

Totally agree. McCain got into the Naval Academy because of his father. He then proceeded to show how incompetent he was throughout his military career. He has ridden the POW status horse to obtain the sympathy vote his whole career. There are other POWs who of course thought he belonged in the traitor category. Today, I know he belongs in the traitor category. Be gone, McShame, McStain, and all the other names you deserve.
