TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Michelle Obama is rearranging plans for a speech before graduating high school seniors in Kansas in the face of protests that her appearance at a combined graduation ceremony for five schools would limit seating for families and friends.

She wanted to speak on the 60th anniversary of Brown vs. Board of Education. The intention was for her to lecture all of us about race relations and civil rights. She was going to say that while great progress has been made, that we still have a long way to go to get to true equality. She may even have touched upon homosexual issues, saying that the task of gaining true equality for everyone never ends. And she would have urged the graduates to go out in the world and fight for that equality.
There, I just wrote the outline of her speech for her. Now we don’t have to listen to her.
