Environmental mitigation necessary for a planned solar power project may have motivated the federal Bureau of Land Managements decision to launch a military-style armed enforcement action against a Nevada cattle rancher, government documents reveal. According to the documents, BLM determined continued cattle grazing would interfere with the Bureaus plans to use the land as an environmental mitigation area for desert tortoise disruption caused by the solar facility.
In 1993, the BLM designated hundreds of thousands of acres of federal lands in Nevada for conservation to protect desert tortoises. The BLM told rancher Cliven Bundywhose family had raised cattle on the land for generationsthat he must dramatically reduce the number of cattle he could graze there. Bundy claimed his familys rights to graze the land predated BLM oversight of the land, and he stopped paying grazing fees. In early April, the BLM sent in hundreds of armed agents to confiscate Bundys cattle and prevent him and his supporters from interfering with its roundup.
Bundy and his supporters point out desert tortoises are doing quite well on the land grazed by his cattle. The BLM has presented no evidence of declining desert tortoise numbers on the land.
The website Infowars posted an article on April 11 showing BLM had posted documents expressing concern that plans to use the land to mitigate a solar power project were incompatible with the Bundy cattle continuing to graze on the land.
Non-Governmental Organizations have expressed concern that the regional mitigation strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone utilizes Gold Butte as the location for offsite mitigation for impacts from solar development, and that those restoration activities are not durable with the presence of the trespass cattle, read one of the BLM documents.

They really like the word ‘mitigate’, don’t they?
Mitigate your losses, feebs—leave the Bundys alone!
***BLMs Nevada Cattle Aggression Linked to Solar Power Plans***
Maybe it is those stray magnetic lines of force from the solar power lines that are making the cattle aggressive.
Nothing worse than a angry cow on BLM land. ;-D
So, Bammy is Nevada's Colonial Overlord (along with Rustler Reid and his Walkin' Boss Neil Kornze)?
I like that analysis and would be pleased to ask Bammy how he likes being a Colonial.
The chinese project fell through, this First Solar ground breaking with Harry Reid on the left.
Why is it that the Democrat "income inequity" issues never involve profiteering by Democrat politicals ?
Why aren't Democrats insensed by the Dem-elite ?
Where is Hairy Reed on this issue ?? ... Oh ! ...nevermind !!
What is the impact of “utility-scale solar power generation facilities” on the desert tortoises?
Maybe they could use some shade?
You know that's not going to happen. Within a couple of weeks I expect the feds will have any banking accounts Bundy has tied up in knots. They'll make it so he can't sell his cattle, pay his bills, buy his supplies, or anything else. He'll lose his herd, his ranch, everything his has and there won't be a BLM agent in sight at any time.
Environmental mitigation necessary for a planned solar power project
Not to mention the opportunity to utilize Negro participation goals in the contracting....
I mean they will, right?
Reed and vegetarians disposing of shot Bundy cattle?
Bump and bookmark
Bundy’s isn’t an angel here, but . . .
From that link:
“Federal agencies claimed to have been in receipt of reports ‘of vehicle collisions and near collisions’ due to the cattle. Bundy directly denied the allegation.”
“This notion is furthered by the vast area of land the Bundy cattle is dispersed”
The enviros were also complaining of “trampled tortoises”. 160,000 acres divided by 600 head - what are the odds?
“While it would be fair to claim that such activity was in Bundys relative neighborhood, the federal lands once leased by the family were more than 20 miles away, east of Overton, Nevada.”
Not mentioning that the solar plant needed an “environmental offset” (Bundy’s grazing area?) in order to be built. The offset has to come from somewhere.
“Provided no hot-headed lone individual or group within the militia decides to fire and provided no managers within federal law enforcement agencies decide to be provocative and flaunt their might by choosing the two roads containing armed,”
Which side did exactly as stated?
Here’s a different perspective from a St. George (40 miles distant) newspaper article:
Little Harry couldn’t get Bundy tossed so he got the beat down and now the solar plants going on his land huh?
He’ll lose his herd, his ranch,
That may well happen. But Cliven Bundy only owns 160 acres or less of land for his ranch.
The cattle he owns mostly roams the federal lands owned by the gov’t/US citizens. He has
been using that land without paying a fee for some years now. Thus you, I and all the
other citizens of the USA are providing him land, rent free to graze his cattle. Not a bad
deal and I bet many other ranchers would like the same deal.
