A Phoenix woman accused of throwing a shoe at Hillary Rodham Clinton during a speech in Las Vegas remains in federal custody after pleading not guilty to two criminal charges.
Alison Ernst, 36, entered the pleas to misdemeanor counts of trespassing and violence against a person during her arraignment late Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Cam Ferenbach then granted the government's request to keep Ernst in federal custody, saying she was a flight risk and danger to the community.
Ferenbach raised concerns about Ernst's residency status and mental health condition.

It was staged.
Why would anyone be in jail for throwing Hillary a show? (Thanks to ABC editing)
What difference at this point does it make?
Wonder if she’s in the same cell as the Benghazi movie-maker?
Look for a tragic Arkancide cell fire shortly.
I wonder how much Hitlery paid the woman to toss her shoe.
Three ring circus?
It must go on....
"It was a really big shoe"
She ought to lie just as horribly as these communist monster Democrats.
Unless the event was staged, and the woman was actually a Democrat. If that’s the case, they can prosecute her through eternity.
I did not know that.
On a related note, I was appalled earlier today to find a roach on my kitchen floor. I crushed it with my shoe.
Why FEDERAL custody?
Mrs. Clinton does not work for the federal government, nor is she an elected federal official.
Yes. It ‘fell’ in a horizontal direction, at a high rate of speed.
Even the law of gravity runs away and hides when it sees a Clinton approaching.
I think another idiot is about to learn you can’t trust a Clinton the hard way. I, also believe it was staged. She may be about join Webster Hubbell in doing time for Hillary. And there is also a better that even chance that she will join Jim McDougal in dying for Hillary. But....
Wife of former Prez.
Had it been staged, Harry Reid would have had her out of jail in 5 minutes.
Must have been a sincere pitch.
I guess there are a lot of libs who hate the Clintons.
It’s still not a federal crime to throw a shoe at her.
WTF? Are you kidding me? WTF?
Yep, they both have Secret Service protection for life, so any crime against them is a federal crime.
The Hildabeast isn’t familiar with shoes flying around her head.
However, apparently she is familiar with bats flying around her head so she immediately asked if it was a bat.
I didn’t know it was against the law to throw your shoe at a cow.
There's no Business like Show Business!
Shoe throwing would be free speech if the target was a member of the GOP. With Hitlerry, it is two to five in a federal penitentiary.
‘Why FEDERAL custody?
Mrs. Clinton does not work for the federal government, nor is she an elected federal official.”
Now, THAT is a very interesting question...OTOH, she IS a former first lady and IMO deserves a lifetime of Secret Service protection for that, no matter what I may think of her personally.
I love this joke: Someone in Europe was on trial for calling a countess a pig in a public forum. The defendant did not deny it. But when sentenced, he asked the judge if it was still legal to call a pig a countess. The judge said that it was. Then the defendant addressed the countess: “I’m sorry, Countess”.
Not bats. Monkeys.
LoL!! I will have to remember that one.
“Not bats. Monkeys.”
Or maybe both. She does go both ways after all.
But she is familiar with houses flying near her sister’s head.
Secret Service protection, yes.
Having an attack on her classified as a federal crime, I say no.
What are we missing here? Where is this woman from...is she an illegal alien from somewhere....why is she considered a "flight risk".....???
It's an obvious question after reading the concerns of the authorities regarding this woman....why didn't the article's author investigate the obvious?
(Rhetorical question, of course).
