black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus)
common goldfish (Carassius auratus)
crucian carp (Carassius carassius)

Um... the carp came from Asia, did it not? As I recall, invasive species are sometimes described by their origin. African honey bees, Asian carp, Argentine ant, European starling, New Zealand mud snail, etc. Heck, there is even a Canada thistle on Wikipedia’s list of invasive species. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_invasive_species_in_North_America) So to whine that an invasive species from Asia is called an Asian species is just ludicrous. Clearly, someone is looking to be professionally aggrieved in order to further a personal agenda.

What’s going to be really interesting is the hue and cry to rename the Minnesota communist zone called St Paul.

The name is a clear violation against the rule of separation of church and state.

I have a suggestion. Lets ban all colors and their names and manufacture everything in shades of gray. Clothing, cars (for now) and all other objects of commerce. Food, of course, presents a problem but I believe not insurmountable; scientists could easily create a vitamin enhancing formula in opaque gray tones that could be sprayed on food in special processing centers before the government gives us our daily allotment (oops, that might be too early). The names of colors should go, too. In that way, we’ll have a truly colorblind world and peace and justice will prevail.

It’s not the name. It’s about establishing protected status so they can garner more influence in the government victim-strata process. More meetings with government officials, inclusion in the process, and more importantly, MORE concessions in the doling out of Federal Money.

It is all about influence, power and money.

Massive suicide protest or genocide over “discrimination in fish name:”

Scientists are studying the cause of a massive fish kill in western Kentucky, which state wildlife officials are saying is the largest kill of its kind recorded.

My name is Philips. A name that can be associated with either the production of oil or the relief of constipation. I am neither blessed by one nor offended by the other.

Some folks have their 'offended' response on a hair trigger.

Chinkfish
Yella carp
Slopefish

These people need to get over themselves.

Let's see, I've been called a poached egg, cracker, whiteboy, honkey, casper, boo. So what.

You can choose to be offended or not be offended. I would fight to the death to defend ones right to speak freely.

Even those dumb-@$$ liberals.

“The left will say that it is yet another, new, secret ‘buzzword’ that whites can use to alienate Asians instead of the old standby, ‘slant eyes’ or ‘gooks’.”

“The left will stoop lower than whale dung to trash anything that remotely sounds like it is meant in a derogatory way.”

Like ‘slant eyes’ or ‘gook’? Count me as lower than whale dung then.

Asian carp were originally imported from Southeast Asia to the southern United States to help aquaculture and wastewater treatment facilities keep retention ponds clean.
