The relationship (or lack thereof) between the mainstream of the Republican party and the tea party has long been pooh-poohed by GOP strategists as standard operating procedure for a party out of the White House. The base and the establishment feud and, in the end, the base falls in line, they argue. But what if the tea party movement represents something new -- and less manageable -- for the establishment heading into the 2016 presidential race?

I honestly think the GOP would like to kick us out and lose.
Sounds great!
I agree. They would rather kill the tea party and lose, than to win with a resurgence of tea party victories, making conservative ideology more mainstream within the (r)epublican party.
I generally have authority issues, so there won’t be any “falling in line” with the GOP from me. They’ve proven they can’t be trusted, or relied upon, to do the right thing.
Apparently the Weeper of the House, Boehner, doesn't want conservatives in the GOP anyway.
I’ve already walked away.
12 Numbers Which Prove That Americans Are Sick And Tired Of Politics As Usual
http://www.infowars.com/12-numbers-which-prove-that-americans-are-sick-and-tired-of-politics-as-usual/
(Key statistics)
#4 According to a Real Clear Politics average of national polls, Americans disapprove of the job that Congress is doing by a 77.6 percent to 14.2 percent margin.
#6 65 percent of Americans are dissatisfied with the U.S. system of government and its effectiveness. That is the highest level of dissatisfaction that Gallup has ever recorded.
#7 Only 4 percent of Americans believe that it would change Congress for the worse if every member was voted out during the next election.
#11 60 percent of Americans report feeling angry or irritable. Two years ago that number was at 50 percent.
#12 70 percent of Americans do not have confidence that the federal government will make progress on the important problems and issues facing the country in 2014.”
(And the kicker!)
#8 An all-time low 31 percent of Americans identify themselves as Democrats.
#9 An all-time low 25 percent of Americans identify themselves as Republicans.
#10 An all-time high 42 percent of Americans identify themselves as Independents.
(This number keeps rising. The last time I saw #10 around ten+ years ago the number was at 20 percent.)
The only reason the TeaParty would walk is if the GOP gave us a candidate so bad it wouldn’t matter who won.
The Tea party, an exotic addition? What rubbish. The Tea party is rational. The thieves, worms and grifters we have now in Congress are the ones not rational.
There are a few individuals I *might* show up and pull the lever for--Rand, Cruz, Lee, etc.
A Cruz/Palin REPUBLICIAN ticket would save our country.
There is only the Uniparty.
The Tea Party walking away would create the 2nd party.
I would say pass amnesty and nominate Jeb or Crispy. That should do it.
Instead of mushy rinos stopping the worse of the democrat scum, the democrat scum would do much more damage than they are doing now. Unfettered.
pass one of those amnesty bills and they’ll find out
Many ‘Tea Party ‘ types here in Maine have walked away from the GOP.
We realized the party is co-opted from the top down.
