Ruffians landed from a helicopter? Vladimir, I understand what you’re doing, but this is absurd. Your average, or above-average, paramilitary doesn’t have access to that sort of transportation or expertise. It makes you look bad.

As far as the US goes—I’m less concerned than most, despite the Munich analogies. Here’s a future history analogy—in 20 years, with our current open borders, a big chunk of one of our southwestern states may declare their independence from the US and preference for Mexico. I would hope we’d react strongly, and if we did, that we’d be upset enough and determined enough that the Russians would recognize the futility of interfering across an intervening ocean.

The reverse is our position now—reckless expansion of NATO to territories it wasn’t really willing to fight to defend, and where it was to overextended and weak to defend. Our power is not limitless, especially with the steady cuts to our military. Neither is our obligation to shoulder the heavy lifting for Europe in exchange for their sending token expeditions to Iraq and other US-dominated actions.

And Benghazi. The video did it!. Even the CIA, Defense, and the State Department went along with the “terrible video” story. It wasn’t a terrorist attack, but regular Muslims upset about a video. The admin even spent money to apologize about the video. Yes, I do have trouble accepting what this administration and all its “Yes Sir” men say.

Whether Russia is lying or not, I thought it was worthwhile to show what the Russians are saying. We are close to war.

The man the Ukrainians threw out was democratically elected. We are supporting the side that overthrew the legitimate government. They said he was corrupt. Should we have really sided with either side?

Crimea was given to the Ukraine by Khrushchev to entice them to join the USSR. From what I understand, the majority in East Ukraine are Russian speaking and so is the Crimea. The overthrown government recognized the Russian language, the new government said Russian would no longer be acceptable to conduct business.

“Those who were guarding the checkpoint, told Slier that the marked attackers in black uniforms were armed with ‘US-made guns’.”

Los Zetas?

I forgot about the SEAL Team 6. Who would have ever expected the Vice President and the Secretary of Defense to release classified information and let the Muslims know that it was SEAL Team 6 who took out Bin Laden. Most of this team was then killed in a poorly thought out Afghanistan mission (a Muslim chaplain was allowed to pray over their bodies and condemned them to hell.) At the last minute the Afghans that were scheduled to be on this raid were swapped out for 7 other Afghans (suicide mission).

Yeah, I have a lot of trust in this administration.

Protesters in Ukraine guard biggest weapons cache in eastern Europe

“At least 1m firearms ranging from first world war machine guns to Soviet-era Kalashnikovs stored at Volodarsky salt mine

Situation in Ukraine’s Donetsk Region
People outside an ammunition depot at Volodarsky mine. The sign reads: ‘We are for a peace/world without war.’

When pro-Russia protesters stormed a police station in Slavyansk, in eastern Ukraine, they seized several hundred firearms. They also took control of the biggest weapons cache in eastern Europe, which lies beneath their feet.

Since March a group of protesters have been guarding the entrance to the Volodarsky salt mine, which holds an underground collection of at least a million firearms ranging from first world war heavy machine guns to Soviet-era Kalashnikovs.”

Whether we should or shouldn't be on the side of the new government in Ukraine, I think Free Republic should be keeping up with the events unfolding in the area.

The Ukrainians and Russians are dead serious. And Obama is weak and has further eroded our military readiness. Condi Rice said we should forget about cutting our military.
