Wow. What could possibly go wrong? I bet the injury attorneys are already working on TV ads to fish for clients damaged or who crash because of this insanity.

Any accidents caused by such devices demands that those manning and using those devices be dragged from their posts, beaten to a bloody pulp and strung up from the nearest highway sign. Intentionally causing accidents, mayhem and excruciating pain to anyone forfeits your rights to exist.

Waiting for the lawsuits to pile up when someone has a accident or coronary because of this stupidity.

I was driving along on a country road one time as a youth. I had some music and I was driving along sort of thinking of other things, easy to do when you’re about the only car on the road for a mile in either direction.

All of a sudden, this really loud siren blasted from almost on top of my back bumper. I hadn’t even noticed the car there. It scared me out of the blue, and I momentarily lost control of the vehicle. I was very fortunate that it continued to head forward, but I just was easily could have jerked on the wheel or hit the brakes, or have done something to cause a very bad accident.

If there had been people working on the road, I would have seen them and slowed down. What this guy did could have easily caused me serious injury.

Now they want to use these new tools on drivers, and I marvel at the lack of common sense government people exhibit each and every day.

For our safety, and I mean this seriously, we need to furlough about 95% of them.

... the device will produce instant headaches, permanent hearing damage, and that “you definitely don’t want to be” within 100 meters of the device.

As with drivers causing crashes by not paying attention to the road while texting, not only will drivers likewise be distracted by these cannons, but they'll be distracted when they are driving faster than the higher legal speed and at greater risk for a worse accident imo.

It’s not about public safety, it’s for surreptitiously pre-emplacing Weaponry for use against unruly citizens.

Imagine one or two of these at the recent Bundy Ranch Standoff? You might get the idea...

When I worked as a surveyor on highway projects; I would have welcomed a "military sound cannon" -- at least until someone develops a proper vapourizing ray.

I suspect that the sound won't be turned all the way up to 11 -- instead it'll be used to hail speeders, with a warning or a command to

There's plenty of precedent for using a "sound cannon", or "Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD)" to communicate authoritatively Here's an interestng article on the topic:

If one of these blasted in or anywhere near my vehicle and my hearing range I'd be tracking me down some officials to with my fist beat the living crap out of. I'm serious and do not say it lightly. I have neurological damage in my auditory and optic sensory processing system that such an event would trigger seizures and immediate loss of concentration. This is very dangerous technology that the mere distraction of it being deployed will get innocent persons killed by the cognitive issues it causes. What sort of sadistic fool is authorizing using this?

Why is it suddenly civilian law enforcement as agencies have been allowed to become a militarized band of tyrants? Put a darn cruiser with a cop in the construction zone and let him cite speeders. Have two. One in the start of the zone and one near the end who can innate pursuit and the witnessing officer issue a citation.

Why don’t they just shoot rockets at speeding cars... or perhaps have a drone take them out with a surface-to-ground missile or something.

How many will suffer immediate heart attacks at the wheel, and be blameful for the results, instead of the police with thier over-reaching technology?

Great...it’s be like the gang-banger next to you on the roadway with rap crap turned up to 11 — only 10x worse. Instead of slowing people down, they’ll do the exact opposite. I’d speed up as much as I can to get past the pain zone.

Government sure continues to attract the best and brightest, doesn’t it?

“Its 153 dB sound waves are so powerful that they cause bystanders to reel in pain, clutch their ears, and run away.”

Now, what could *possibly* go wrong with deploying one those near a freeway work site?

/do I really need a sarc tag here?
