There are going to be certain ‘shallow’ politicians who make good followers behind party leaders.

Like Cornyn, Shannon will fall in line behind whoever can fund the next election cycle and whoever can make committee assignments that bring pork back to the state.

Conservatives have to aim to take over the party leadership as well as the party rank and file. We see today what is gained by having only the rank and file of the party without having the party leadership with us.

If the Tea Party groups can have Mike Lee become Senate Majority Leader in 2014 (not Ted because Ted is going to be our President in 2016), then Shannon will be a vote in the Tea Party column.

It doesn't matter because WaPo says Sarah Palin is a "diminished" figure.
