Oklahoma Tea Party leaders not on board with T.W. Shannon

Leaders of Oklahoma Tea Party organizations ripped U.S. Senate candidate T.W. Shannon on Friday and said national leaders like Sarah Palin and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz had endorsed Shannon without consulting them or researching his record. The letter, from leaders of groups like OKC Tea Party and the Tulsa 9.12 Project, was written a day after Palin, Cruz and U.S. Sen. Mike Lee held a rally in Tulsa for Shannon to boost the Lawton Republican’s conservative bona fides.

Interesting. I wondered if Shannon's past would ever come up. Cole is a big government friend of Boehner. Shannon learned at Cole's feet. We can do better. Shannon is an opportunist without firm convictions. I've met the man, and he is shallow.

My money says that they everyone who endorsed him knew very well what type of republican he is and will be.....

It is not an accident and NOTHING was overlooked.

Lankford supports compassionate amnesty like Huckabee and other types.

So either Randy Brogdon makes a miracle comeback.

Or we let Lankford win and hope he blocks amnesty until 2016 when 2 term congressman Bridenstine can primary him.

Shallow??

What??

He is the VERY opposite of shallow!

TW is the kind of man we need in Washington DC!

Lankford is NOT what we need in DC.

Whoever these supposed ‘leaders’ are that don’t like him.. they just need to STFU.

Tea Party Leaders? This is why I am extremely hesitant to contribute to any “group” that identifies with the Tea Party. I don’t need anyone telling me what to think.

Sorry Gwjack, I’ll take the Senate Conservatives Fund vetting and endorsement over you. As many others have also, I wanted Bridenstine to enter the race but he did not.

You certainly don’t support James Lankford I hope.

This letter was signed by only 30 people? That is LAUGHABLE!

This is a ridiculous attempt at a hit piece on Shannon.

Shannon is more Conservative than Lankford, Brogdon, and Coburn who he will be replacing.

I think I’ll trust Ted Cruz on this one. He does not endorse often, so an endorsement from him is important.

Lankford is a joke. Shannon will be the next senator, and he’ll do the state proud.

People need to make their own choice and ignore the endorsements.

I voted against the guy Palin endorsed in 2010 and don’t regret it or have any problems with Palin.

Hi CM, I hope you are well.

I agree, Lankford needs to find employment elsewhere. I’ve never been a believer that he was what was needed. Lankford put together a combination of Indian tribes, Baptists, and teachers for his first election. They are all abandoning him now, having seen his true stripes.

I truly hope TW will surprise me and be better than I think. He has the inside track to be elected. We’ll discover soon enough. If I am surprised, I will be the first person to step up and eat crow. Sometimes my cynicism comes out.

Gwjack

PS: I don’t have a dog in the fight at this time.

My analysis it that Brogdon would be fine and is perhaps a bit more conservative than Shannon. I’m surprised to see other posts saying he is not. It’s debatable.

However, I’m on board with Shannon. He’s better than Lankford and will be a reasonably good Senator. This is one of those cases where conservatives are going to have to decide early or we will get the most establishment candidate.

Make no mistake though, at this level all these guys are ambitious and have warts.

Thanks gw!

I supported Coburn in the beginning.. but he turned more sour than 2 month old milk.

I can’t count how many times I called Coburn’s office to complain in the last 3 years.

Brogdon’s not more Conservative than Shannon.

Sometimes it is difficult to know which candidate will make the best officeholder. I’m leaning towards Shannon at this time but I’ll take everything into consideration before making a final decision. Being endorsed by Cruz and Palin does make me think Shannon is okay philosophically.

I have very little use for Newsok.com. And I’ve not been impressed with the Tea Party movement either.

My vote is with TW.
