The gun supremacists' folly (barf alert)
Milwaukee J-S ^ | 28 apr 2014 | E.J. Dionne,Jr

Have we gone stark raving mad?

The question is brought to mind by the new gun law signed last week in Georgia by Gov. Nathan Deal. You might have thought that since the United States couldn't possibly have more permissive firearms laws than it does now, nothing more could be done to coddle the gun lobby and tip the balance of our statutes away from law enforcement. Alas, you would be wrong.

The creativity of the National Rifle Association and other organizations devoted to establishing conditions in which every man, woman and child in our nation will have to be armed is awe inspiring. Where imagination is concerned, the best absurdist artists and writers have nothing on the NRA. No wonder Stephen Colbert has decided to move on from the realm of satire. When parody becomes reality, the challenges facing even a comedian of his talents can become insurmountable.

You might not have thought that the inability of people to pack while praying was a big problem. Georgia's political leaders think otherwise, so the new law allows people to carry guns in their houses of worship. True, congregations can set their own rules, but some pastors wonder about the confusion this provision will create, and those who would keep their sanctuaries gun-free may worry about being branded as liberal elitists. Maybe the Georgia Legislature will help them by requiring a rewrite of the Scriptures. "Blessed are the peacemakers" can become "Blessed are the gun owners."

You will also be able to tote weapons into bars and their parking facilities if the bar gra

Here in Wisconsin, people are armed to the teeth. Yet outside of Milwaukee, gun violence (or violence period) is rare. The leftist conceit is that having access to firearms turns a normally mild-mannered, peaceful lover of all people into a raging, homicidal maniac. When that doesn’t happen, libs are not happy. Because it destroys their argument.

Word of caution, crime is not counted accurately. More of our governments fuzzy math tricks. It is Hierarchical Counted, only the most serious crime is counted if there were actually 4 crimes committed at the time. Kidnap, rape, rob then kill a person, only the murder counts. Rest flushed down the toilet.

Local State 11 month 29 day facilities are at a 85%+ RECIDIVISM rate. Depending on state and county. 85% is Memphis/Shelby County, TN.

Recidivism
http://www.bjs.gov/index.cfm?ty=tp&tid=17
These offenders had accumulated 4.1 million arrest charges before their most recent imprisonment and another 744,000 charges within 3 years of release.

Older study, but invaluable info.

Keep in mind the sampling was just 45%, they originally committed 25,900 crimes, when placed early release under ‘community’ supervision for parole and probation they then committed another 74,400 new crimes. That folks adds up to 100,300 crimes, and many times more than in victims. As there are multiple people affected when a child is raped or a person murdered.

Probation & Parolee’s

In 1991, 45% of State prisoners were persons who, at the time they committed their offense, were under conditional supervision in the community—either on probation or on parole. They then committed an additional 74,400 new crimes. Their original crimes add up to 25,900. The NEW crimes FAR out ceded their REPEAT CRIMES. Total 100,300 crimes this is JUST 45% of the parole and probation population.

...the United States couldn't possibly have more permissive firearms laws than it does now...

Ha! That's a good one. I believe only a couple of states have "Constitutional Carry." In other places you are banned from open/concealed carry. In many places you must get a "permit" to exercise your right. Hey, how'd you like to have to get a permit to set up a facebook account? How about a license for an email address? Sound idiotic, sound like a violation of your 1st Amendment rights? But hey, the founding fathers never anticipated that technology... (shooting down another argument from the libtard gun-grabbers)

How about other gun laws? Background checks to make a purchase. Magazine capacity limits. Banned features. Banned imports. Banned ammunition. Gun free zones.

So the whole idea of "...couldn't possibly have more permissive firearms laws..." is blatantly incorrect and calls into question everything the "article" is based on.

Oh, and if you are looking for an example of "stark raving mad" just consider that many places - including most schools - have a security strategy that is basically "put up a 'gun free zone' sign and hope for the best." Yet every single mass shooting event, with only one exception, since 1960 has been in a place where private citizens were barred from being armed. That is madness.

How many more innocents, particularly innocent children, have to die before it finally sinks through the thick, indoctrinated skulls of the liberal idiots that gun free zones do not work! To me, these are the surest signs of liberal mental illness. Seriously, not making a joke, not just taking pot-shots at liberals. I truly believe that advocates for gun free zones are suffering from some form of mental illness, some cognitive disconnect. Anyone with a shred of common sense can see that they will not work, that they render people vulnerable. Yet liberals are so blinded by their faith, so disconnected from reality that they continue to promote gun free zones. Madness. They should seek professional help and treatment. Soon. Today.

It would have been nice if this fool had read the bill before he started to knee jerk bloviate but then again, I beginning to believe Democrats are incapable of anything other than emotional outbursts based on what they perceive to be true rather than what is true.

When I was a kid I always snickered in church when the Beatitudes were read and “Blessed are the Peacemakers” made me picture Jesus and His disciples armed with long barreled Colt six shooters.

Anyway, Dionne is this disgusting little man with a real case of power envy. He looks at liberal heavyweights like LBJ, Ted Kennedy, and Robert Byrd and thinks, “if only that were me”.

Hey - they’re all dead. The day looks better already.

“Georgia’s political leaders think otherwise, so the new law allows people to carry guns in their houses of worship.

So what is the problem? I’m sure that EJ wouldn’t be caught dead in a church.

I caught that too, Peacemakers.
Just how do you enforce the Peace?
Not by bleating like sheep.
I really sense desparation in the cries of the liberals
as though they are finally catching on that the country
is not turning their way.

Whether parishioners are forbidden, allowed, or required to carry firearms within a church is a matter for that church, and only for that church. The government has no business in the matter.

Ah, Newspeak! Lovely to have our Orwellian betters inform us of the new, approved, politically correct vernacular. We have “Gun Supremacists” now, a rather nasty slur that deliberately resembles White Supremacists, and from a headline yesterday, “Gun Reform” instead of the more accurate “Confiscation by a Fascist Government”. The arbiters of modern language are working overtime to frame the issue their way but I think we’ve reached the point where it’s too stilted and contrived to catch on. If E.J. could possibly feel any shame for promoting idiot neologisms, he should.

So....then you admit the current batch of laws isn't as biased toward freedom as you've been telling everyone. Shocking admission. Thanks!

You might not have thought that the inability of people to pack while praying was a big problem.

People can and have gone into churches and committed mass shootings. Wouldn't it make sense to have the non-deranged people capable of defending themselves?

those who would keep their sanctuaries gun-free may worry about being branded as liberal elitists.

So your position is that we should enact liberal laws so liberals can pretend not to be liberal? That's the first time I've heard that one. Can't do the time, don't do the crime. Plus, if you prefer a gun-free congregation, wouldn't you prefer that those nasty freedom-lovers be driven out to worship somewhere else anyway by finding out who you guys really were?

When we have a “president” who will always stand for muslims when ill winds blow, ya’ have to know that the slaughter of Christians in this country can’t be far behind with the “president” making sure that no harm befalls them when acting out.

....which they can't do if those darned Christians can shoot back.
