Skip to comments.Bill O'Reilly: The Cliven Bundy controversy
Posted on 04/28/2014 6:01:30 AM PDT by PaulCruz2016
When the story broke about the feds going to Nevada, to make a rancher pay grazing fees, my staff did what it always does. We researched and found out the facts and those are these. That rancher Cliven Bundy broke the law for many years by not paying the fees, that the federal government owns the land and that the State of Nevada readily admits the feds have jurisdiction in the grazing controversy. Those are the facts.
So, we presented them to you and then mildly criticized the feds for overreacting. You may remember, Judge Napolitano and I basically said it's a waste of taxpayer money to conduct a raid and seize cattle. You simply use the legal system to eventually make Bundy pay up.
Now, most of you agreed with our analysis. A few threw in with Mr. Bundy but not very many. However some commentators including a handful on Fox News rallied to Mr. Bundy's side. But most Fox News people did not. And that's why we're successful. We have a wide variety of opinion expressed in a vibrant way.
Now, we know that Cliven Bundy is a man who does not see things clearly. He made very offensive ignorant remarks about African-Americans and was roundly condemned for doing so. But here is something interesting. Mr. Bundy is also sympathetic to Hispanics.

Who is this guy an why is anybody paying him attention?
This just in:
Bill O’Reilly is awesome according to Bill O’Reilly!
All I can say to Mr. O’Reilly is that “vibrant” is not a substitute for “bloviate”.
Bill is a POS. Who cares what he says?
Bug off, Baxter.
O’Reilly does a victory lap for us to marvel at his huge brain.
I haven’t watched him in years. He’s lazy and just reports what his staff tells him to think.
OReilley is more invested in his own vision of "Fair and Balanced," and particularly of him being seen as the king thereof, than he is in the truth.
Either that, or his staff is inept.
The man in the above YouTube video is named Jason Bullock. He is a is a six-year Army veteran who is out in Nevada and has volunteered to serve as one of Cliven Bundy's bodyguards.
As you can see, Jason Bullock is also a black American.
That's what he had to say about Cliven Bundy, early this week, after Bundy's remarks were widly reported, and when CNN interviewed Bullock and asked him if Cliven Bundy's remarks had offended him.
"No, not at all. Mr. Bundy is not a racist.
"Ever since I've been here, he's treated me with nothing but hospitality. He's pretty much treating me just like his own family.
"I would take a bullet for that man if need be. I look up to him just like I do my own grandfather. I believe in his cause and after having met Mr. Bundy, I have a really good feeling about him and I'm a pretty good judge of character."
The media distorts information to the point of social division. Above is a photo of myself and the resilient, often charismatic, and maybe not so tactful Cliven Bundy. Hes a cowboy and a helluva family man, not an orator.
One thing he definitely isnt a racist. I found his comments to not only be NOT racist, but his own view of his experiences. Who the heck are we to determine another mans perspective on the world around him?! Just because Picassos view of the world was abstract, does it negate the fact that his art was genuine?
Furthermore, if you take the time to do your own research, youll find that his statements about some black Americans actually hold weight. He posed a hypothetical question. He said, I wonder IF Hell, Im black and I often wonder about the same about the decline of the black family.
Bottom line is that we are all slaves in this waning republic, no matter our skin color. Mr. Bundy could have used any racial demographic as an example: Native Americans on reservations, whites in trailer parks, etc. He noticed the crippling effects of receiving government assistance and the long term result of accepting handouts.
Its not progress at all. I challenge Sean Hannity, Rand Paul, and others to read my comment and reconsider their position in this matter. Individual liberties are at stake here, yours and mine. THAT is the issue.
Dont let the liberal media and ignoramuses like Glenn Beck and that weasel Harry Reid make you lose sight of the real issue here: The federal government is a burgeoning behemoth and a bully on a once constitutional playground.I sincerely hope you real patriots out there who can see through the smoke.
Perhaps Cliven Bundy has what some may call a big wart on him. Again, so what? We all do.
That does not make him a racist, or a bigot in the least, despite what Bill OReilly, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and others may think or say. Those people have raitings and a lot of money riding on how they respond and what people think about their words...Cliven Bundy spoke straight...as best he could, and his underlying point is completely valid. And those two black veterans who know him, agree and stand by him. And one of those men feels so strongly about it, that he, a black US Army veteran, would take a bullet for the man. That carries a WHOLE lot more weight with me.
I am LONG over BOR.
Oh really O’Reilly? Asks Ted O’Baxter. Loofahs on sale in aisle 3!
I have long since given up listening to anything said by A$$wipe O’ Really, it having been proven to me that he serves himself best of all.
I am long over watching any television news programs.
If I can’t read about it on FR, I don’t need to know it ..
As a grad student majoring in Cliometrics, I heard both men speak on the book at OSU. Their conclusion was that, in terms of economic well-being, antebellum slaves were better off than postbellum slaves. At the Q&A session afterwards, a black reporter accused Fogel of being a racist bigot, obviously, having not read either volume. When he finished what was really a rant rather than a question, a black lady stood up, look him in the eye, and asked him if he had read the book, to which the reporter admitted he had not. But to save face, he launched into another racist diatribe. The black lady, again, told him he didn't know what he was talking about. Fogel then said: "I see you have met my wife." Oddly...nothing more from the snotnosed reporter.
HE’S DOIN’ IT LIVE.
Exactly. He doesn’t want to know the truth. It’s staring him in the face and he still refuses to look at it. Bill, go back and write your fiction mysteries. You have a real talent there.
Yeah, Bill, and you saw the Obamadork’s “real” birth certificate, too.
You are so full of Obamastuff you’d float.
A pox on Fox for having you.
Bill OReilly thinks that Bill OReilly has a much higher opinion of Bill OReilly than can be expressed in the mere word awesome.
What a great story. Thanks.
“If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so.” - Thomas Jefferson
The husband still DVRs O’Reilly’s so that he can watch his “Memo”. I have come to despise BOR almost as much as I despise Obamugabe, so I will not stay in the room while he watches.
There was a time when I watched BOR rather regularly, but I now realize what a total jerk he is. What makes it more infuriating is that he pretends to lean toward a conservative perspective. All part of the progressives’ undermining of our culture.
Sadly, my favorite sister will not miss his show and reads all of his books.
Since “racism” is the most pressing issue for our clueless elite then I have a question. Has BOR ever uttered any anti-white statements in his life?
“Millions of other Americans were killed or wounded to end slavery during the Civil War.”
Lost me right there.
Union: ~ 365,000 total dead. 275,200 wounded.
Confederacy: ~260,000 total dead. 137,000+ wounded.
Civilians: 50,000 to 250,000. (No accurate count exists.)
Total estimate, about 1 million.
Who is this guy an why is anybody paying him attention?
No one knows. Like teats on a boar, he is just there.
“Bottom line is that we are all slaves in this waning republic, no matter our skin color. Mr. Bundy could have used any racial demographic as an example: Native Americans on reservations, whites in trailer parks, etc. He noticed the crippling effects of receiving government assistance and the long term result of accepting handouts.

Superb quote from the marine, which goes right to the heart of the matter.
That was well said and just the way I took Bundy’s remarks.
Besides hasn’t Ted Baxter been saying the same thing as Bundy for months on end but being ever so PC by not using the words slavery or Negro ?
The Factor has been on a Culture Crusade over the entitlement society, and that it will lead to the downfall of America.
He’s been on a rant against the evils of drugs, abortion, street gangs, low expectations, and on and on.
What I notice O’Reilly doing a lot is always finding some scapegoat on the Right that he can tear into so that he can appear fair, honest and even handed. Sickeningly, they all do it. It is like a ritual PC cleansing for the sake of their careers.
“Now, most of you agreed with our analysis. A few threw in with Mr. Bundy but not very many”
Bill you’re insane. Almost nobody agreed with your stupid analysis.
Excellent anecdote! I first read that in a feminist book titled “Womenfolk” as I recall. A southern feminist had taken up her quill to slay the patriarch dragon and stumbled across the living standard comparison between plantation slaves and housing project and welfare inmates.
The principal evils of slavery were not economic. They were more the slave being forced into a position of dependency, forced association and the threat of confiscation of family members. Sort of what citizens face at the hand of government authorities today.
Please, you’ve ruined my morning coffee. Bill O’Gasbag doesn’t deserve a single line on FR!
You forgot to put a BARF Alert on this article.
Sean Hannity and or Oriely should interview that black man. He does know what Bundy really is, and it is not a racist.
If they will not interview him, I accuse them of politically correct cowardice.
Seems like BOR is getting his talking point directly from the mac daddy administration.
His interview with mac daddy was as soft an interview as could be possible, while saying that he was being respectful.
0’Reilly sucks and so does his staff’s research.
Bundy is at least half a generation older than I am, so I would guess he never got the memo from the thought police. Or maybe he just doesn't give a damn.
Whatever. How can it be racist to use exactly the same term used by St. Martin Luther King, Jr.?
"Negro" is now almost the equivalent in politically correct circles of the other "N" word. It is apparently OK for use by the United Negro College Fund. "Colored People" is in the same category, being kept around for the exclusive use of the NAACP.
Under no circumstances must white people use any terms that are exclusively for the use of black people in their everyday speech. Or screen writers like Tarantino.
