A small airplane heading back to South Dakota after a Texas cattle sale crashed into a wind farm in foggy weather, killing the pilot and three passengers.

...

Similar conditions contributed to a 2008 crash in southeast Minnesota. Federal investigators concluded the pilot of a 1948 Cessna 140 lacked proper instrument training for the day's foul weather. The National Transportation Safety Board's probable cause report also noted the pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane while maneuvering around a wind farm.

One notes that general aviation is so safe that any crash anywhere of a small plane in the U.S. is national news.

We should put windmills along our norther border to protect us from any incoming ICBMs. They apparently work well at taking down anything that flies.

Every time I drive by wind farms I think: Stupid. Stupid! Insanely stupid!

The progressives (and clueless useful idiots) feature these things in their propaganda. They show attractive men and women holding architectural plans in their hands while they look to the horizon (metaphorically to the future).

Not a single one of these damned farms is economically viable. They are all supported by tax money. And when they die, which they all will, they will remain a blight on the land, rusting hulks. No one will want to pay the money to plow them under. Oh wait, there’s always the taxpayers...

Usually true, but around Palm Springs, California, they actually make sense. I'm sure there are a few other places like this. Holland also comes to mind.

Well, the thing about ICBMs is, they don't fly, they fall...

An accident of this type has long been talked about among GenAv circles. All of the pilot awareness issues aside, this has been coming for a while now.

The lawsuit should be EPIC, as a whole bunch of lawyers have been waiting for an event like this to happen.

Lots of wind farms and crop dusting around where I live. The crop dusters have started using helicopters around the windmills.

Holland also comes to mind.

Wind power is a complete disaster

...Denmark, the world’s most wind-intensive nation, with more than 6,000 turbines generating 19% of its electricity, has yet to close a single fossil-fuel plant. It requires 50% more coal-generated electricity to cover wind power’s unpredictability, and pollution and carbon dioxide emissions have risen (by 36% in 2006 alone).

Just glance at a wind farm on Google Earth....and ponder...who on earth thinks these are ‘green’?

The footprint of turbines and connecting roads is enormous.

Not the 1st time this has happened. A Mooney that I think was scud-running hit a windmill near Oshkosh a number of years ago now. When they put the windmills up @ Tehachapi years back it really ticked off the soaring pilots that soared the ridges their.

I don’t know where the mistake is, but a Cessna 140 cannot hold four adults. Even two adults and two little kids are a stretch.

I used to own one. It is/was SMALL.

You're right! We'll have to put the wind farms in space!
