Obamacare website fix will cost feds $121 million

Fixing the Obamacare website and improving it so it’s ready to handle a second round of enrollments will cost the federal government $121 million, according to Accenture, the contractor hired to repair the glitchy website after the original contractor, CGI Federal, was fired.

That cost is roughly $30 million more than initially projected, underscoring the price of trying to keep President Obama’s signature domestic law on track. The price is also about $30 million more than the reported value of CGI’s initial Obamacare contract, signed in 2011.

Accenture announced the deal in a press release on its website, saying the contract includes “enhancing the back-end capabilities to improve issuer payments,” adding fuel to recent suggestions there is plenty of work left on the so-called “back-office” functions of the exchange that make sure subsidy and premium payments are calculated correctly.

Government officials said the new contract requirements include functions that were not included in the initial launch.

I couldn’t agree more. The inaction by Republicans is pathetic, not just on this but on many things the 0bama administration has done since the turkey was elected.

I've posted this several times and every time something about the cost and time consumed on the ACA sites I re post:

During the 3-1/2 years of World War 2 that started with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and ended with the Surrender of Germany and Japan in 1945, the U.S. produced 22 aircraft carriers, jeep carriers. 141 carriers of all types.8 battleships, 48 cruisers, 349 destroyers, 420 destroyer escorts, 203 submarines, 34 million tons of merchant ships, 100,000 fighter aircraft, 98,000 bombers, 24,000 transport aircraft, 58,000 training aircraft, 93,000 tanks, 257,000 artillery pieces, 105,000 mortars, 3,000,000 machine guns, and 2,500,000 military trucks.

We put 16.1 million men in uniform in the various armed services, invaded Africa, invaded Sicily and Italy, won the battle for the Atlantic, planned and executed D-Day, marched across the Pacific and Europe, developed the atomic bomb and ultimately conquered Japan and Germany.

It's worth noting, that during the almost exact amount of time, the Obama administration couldn't build a functioning web site.

I'd like to add that the Empire State building took 18 months to complete but the Freedom Tower after ten years still is not ready for occupancy.

Excellent post...It puts the abysmal progress now in perspective with what our country has accomplished working together in the past, due to the politics today it’s not even close.

Obamacare website fix will cost feds $121 million

Obummercare is unfixable.
$121 million is what the original job should have cost.
This supposedly fixes the foundation of the web site, the ability to access many existing databases, determine the qualiications of the applicant, recommend the choies that correspond, and allow the applicant to make a choice.

That represents 15% of the original task, without which the website isn't worth a bucketful of spit.

Even after this fix, Obummercare will forever remain a monument to cluelessness, arrogance and incompetence.
And it still won't deliver on the original 'promise!'

Why do they keep saying it will cost the Fed’s money?

The only way the Fed’s generate money is through taxing American people.
