Are conservatives deserting Sarah Palin? (Another one)
The British Broadcasting Corporation ^ | April 29, 2014 | Kierran Petersen in Washington, DC

Sarah Palin has long been a bete noir of the left, but she has always been able to count support from grass-roots conservatives. At least, until now.

During a speech to members of the National Rifle Association this weekend, Ms Palin cracked a joke that - while being well-received by the crowd - didn't go over as well with many Christian commentators, many of whom considered her an ally.

"They obviously have information on plots to carry out jihad," she said, referring to prisoners. "Oh, but you can't offend them, can't make them feel uncomfortable, not even a smidgen. Well, if I were in charge, they would know that waterboarding is how we baptise terrorists."

For The American Conservative's Rod Dreher, Ms Palin's statement is "sacrilegious". He says that those who laughed at the joke should be ashamed of themselves. Baptism, he says, should be about starting a new life, not celebrating torture.

"If I thought that kind of hateful declaration and abuse of the Christian religion was what conservatism stood for, I wouldn't be able to call myself a conservative," he writes....

Are conservatives deserting Sarah Palin?

Yeah, and the TEA Party is over.

And the Pope is secretly pro-homosexual.

All truths in Liberal-land.

I love Dr. Ben Carson and Lt. Col. Allen West but they can do much about Washington right now and I don’t have any indication they are going to run for office. I doubt Sarah will either. I am watching Trey Gowdy and Ted Cruz closely. They are in positions to do something.

You are really going to be unhappy and limit yourself if you think the only people who can do anything about anything are those who are elected. Right now, I’d say Ben Carson and Sarah Palin are more impactful than probably 90% of elected House and Senate members.

Get out more……it’ll do you good.

Dreher: Get a sense of humor or go away.

Next thing you know, you’ll be for outlawing the saying” Baptism of Fire”.

My son’s first “baptism of fire” was an Iraqi 122 MM rocket aimed at his convoy. You should have seen my Jewish soldier skiddadle out of the way, real quick.

In life, some words transcend religion and some are just funny when used in a certain way.

Our sense of humor separates us from the Lunatic Left which has none except that based on hate.

Get with the program. You might like it.

This guy has too much time on his hands. Anyone with 1/100th of a brain, can figure out the context of what she is saying. He needs to get a life. And you are right, it isn't torture.

Hey does anyone know a good accountant? I wonder if we could get a class action tax break. Think about it. In the Obama economy, we have been responsible for keeping hundreds of journalists employed. Without us abandoning her every week for 6 years now, the reporter jobs writing articles about it would be gone.

So we may qualify.

Its astonishing to me seeing Republicans trashing Sarah Palin as if they are liberal..These last few days I have heard more garbage thrown at Sarah from the right than the left..really surprising after all she has done for the party and continues to do, I see more and more everyday the GOP Establishment(Which is just a cute term for Progressive Republican) turning into the Rat Party. Even Dems defend their own, they are loyal to their own..for some reason the GOP throws their own to the wolves. We all know what the GOP Elitist schmucks want, Jeb Bush to run, and he probably will, and if he gets the nomination he will lose just like every single time the GOP runs a progressive we never win

I lose patience with the idea that the only thing Sarah Palin can do is to run for something. She is in a literally unique position of power and influence and authority….why would she take a demotion to being merely 1 out of 535 members of the House or Senate????? WhY???? Think: you can name Palin and Carson and probably cannot name 90% of congress…..you and the rest of the country. Because they both have injected major themes into the entire national conversation over the past few years, and most members of congress never will. And you do, really really really do, need to get out more.

While you are right and I totally agree she makes a hell of a difference out here, What she cannot do is put bill after bill on the roster and wither make the GOP man up or hit her social media pipeline each and every time they table it, refuse to vote ect.

To me that would have more impact than the rest out here because she has the guts to rub their noses in it. And if people were forced to see how corrupt their opposition party is, how in bed with the dems daily, they may well do something to change it.

Lol. You just gave me a mental picture of exploding heads.

Did you know that the exploding head is how fire ants die in the wild?

They are Amazonian and their natural enemy is a certain kind of fly.
The fly dive-bombs the fire ant and shoots its own fly-larva into the fire ant's head. The larva grow and eventually the ant's head EXPLODES!!!
Gruesome but true.

Our Maker had quite an imagination, didn't He?

I doubt Noah got Mr. and Mrs. Fire ant onto the Ark.

I know what you mean. And frankly, ever since 2008 when Palin first appeared on the national scene, and witnessing how quickly the GOP deserted their own on the battlefield (and in many cases, even joined the enemy in lobbing bombs towards Palin), my lifelong views and respect for the Republican Party was irrevocably destroyed. I saw a Party with no honor, no valor, and no loyalty.

The GOP has been trashing this woman since 2008, from the moment she was announced as the VP Candidate they have been trashing her..because the one thing that came out of Glenn Beck’s mouth that I absolutely agree with is when he said that the GOP is slowly slowly being taken over by progressives..its what happened to the Dem party and I will be damned to see it happen here..I wonder, where the hell is the loyalty. I understand, not everyone on the right agrees with Sarah Palin or even likes her, and that’s fine, but to see the smear job I see day after day some of the responses I swear you can read the same thing on the daily kos site and that is what is truly sad
