7 Insects You'll Be Eating in the Future

Food of the future Credit: Chad Zuber | Shutterstock.com As the human population continues to inch closer to 8 billion people, feeding all those hungry mouths will become increasingly difficult. A growing number of experts claim that people will soon have no choice but to consume insects.

As if to underscore that claim, a group of students from McGill University in Montreal has won the 2013 Hult Prize, for producing a protein-rich flour made from insects. The prize gives the students $1 million in seed money to begin creating what they call Power Flour. "We will be starting with grasshoppers," team captain Mohammed Ashour told ABC News on Monday (Sept. 30).

Earlier this year, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) released a report titled, "Edible Insects: Future Prospects for Food and Feed Security." The document details the health and environmental benefits derived from a diet supplemented by insects, a diet also known as "entomophagy." Gleaned from the FAO document and other sources, here's a list of seven edible insects you may soon find on your dinner plate.

It’s a miracle some government retard hasn’t started pushing rationing in response to articles like this.

If we start by ignoring the population control crowd, we’d find the “science” is already in place to feed the world.

If not for political oppression of people and technology, we have the means to feed them all.

I bought some meal worms yesterday and put them out for the blue birds obsessed with attacking my windows.

It took about two minutes and they were gobbled up. The female was slow and didn’t get her share.

I’m going to order a thousand today

I’m already tired of this whole “population explosion of humans will force us to eat bugs” nonsense.

The "Malthus Disciples" seem to emerge every few years or so, telling us that we won't be able to feed every mouth on the planet because our farming technology can't keep up with the population growth. These folks are related to animal rights' activists, who are related to the environmental whackos, who are related to the GW types, who are related to your common liberal, left-wing Communist who wants to control all means of production and wealth.

I predict Ratburgers. Rats are easy to raise, they eat anything and grow fast, so they will provide a source of protein in the future. Besides the libs can't complain about their farts, like 0bama and his gang do about cows.

"Give me a double McRat with cheese, a large fry and supersize my drink" (to hell with you Bloomberg!).

espite the fact that, scientifically, insects are not animals.

Are they mineral or vegetable?

I do not want to eat insects. I saw this article by accident and thought it was interesting enough to post and discuss.
