8 Things That Won't Get You Banned by the NBA
Breitbart's Sports ^ | April 29, 2014 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 04/29/2014 9:53:16 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

With the lifetime ban by the NBA of despicably racist Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, the door is wide open to further sports bans on people who say offensive things in private.

That, of course, is why Sterling was ousted. Everyone knew for decades that Sterling was a disgusting pig racist – he had federal lawsuits led by the Department of Justice against him for discriminating against blacks, Hispanics, and Asians in housing (one allegation in the 2006 DOJ lawsuit: he said black people “smell”). That would have been an excellent reason for ousting Sterling years ago. The NBA did nothing. Neither did the NAACP, which gave him a lifetime achievement award. But now that his 31-year-old consort has released tape of him saying racist things, the thought police have sprung into action – and the NBA has followed.

Good riddance to Sterling. But let’s understand that ginning up the mob based on private feelings is a dangerous business. We now live in a world in which racial feelings are more important than racist acts (as Sterling’s housing discrimination non-ban shows), and in which bad thought trumps bad action.

Here, then, is a brief list of things that will not get you banned by a sports league for life. The good news: if we tape record all of these people and then hand the tape to Harvey Levin, presumably we can get them banned relatively quickly. Because privacy now extends only to comments with which we agree as a society.

1. Discriminating against black people in housing. Donald Sterling, as mentioned above, settled a lawsuit from the Department of Justice in 2009 in which the DOJ alleged that Sterling had discriminated against Hispanics, blacks, and families without children in housing....

A bunch of white guys, Guggenheim Partners, are using a black guy, Magic Johnson, to take over the LA Clippers.

Just as a bunch of white guys used a black guy to take over the United States of America.

The NBA could pull the franchise.

And as a Celtics fan, seeing Doc squirm is fine by me. I hope they put him out of a job.

#2 shouldn't be on that list. It seems that anyone who ever played for P.J. Carlesimo was rooting for Sprewell to kill the guy.

Seriously.

You obviously still believe that we operate under the rule of law. With this Administration and particularly this Attorney General, laws are meaningless. After all who will stop them?

It was well known and documented in court findings that Sterling was a bigot, yet black players have played on the team for the entire 30+ years Sterling owned the team. Why would they do that?

Really? Your sense of freedom is bounded by your support of an opposing sports team??

I hope you don’t say anything in private that your employer disapproves of.

Many Bigoted NBA players refuse/refused to play for the Raptors, because they hate Canadians and especially those who live in Toronto.

I can see into their hearts and can confirm they are Ray’sSis

I should seek to ruin these awful NBA players and take all of their NBA wealth, starting with Alonzo Mourning

Sterling will go to court and sue the NBA. Tied up in infinitude the NBA will go down. This is a test of wills and the NBA has more to lose than Sterling.

If I were Sterling I would say:

“You want me out as an owner???? Then put your money where your mouth is. How much are you willing to pay to get me out??? The price of the team just doubled — pay it and I will leave.”

The biggest question to me that has yet to be answered is this:

What criteria did the NAACP used in vetting this guy for a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT award?

‘It was intimated that the league could grant free agency to the payers, screw around with the draft and pre season games.’

The league does that and Sterling and his family will own the league. The league would sign its’ own death warrant by selectively enforcing its’ own rules. Who do they thing they are, Obama?
