Rocky Mountain High: Colorado Symphony Unrolls Classical Cannabis Series

In a bid to attract a new and younger listenership, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is staging a summer classical-music series in Denver at which the audience will be encouraged to toke up on the states now legal weed while enjoying the orchestras beautiful repertoire.
Billed as Classically Cannabis: The High Note Series, the program is being sponsored by a number of companies hailing from the states burgeoning, four-month-old marijuana industry.
Organizers point out, however, that pot will not be sold at the shows, which are strictly Bring Your Own Cannabis.
Promoters are hoping the BYOC events will give a financial boost to an orchestra that has been long plagued by financial setbacks.
Part of our goal is to bring in a younger audience and a more diverse audience, and I would suggest that the patrons of the cannabis industry are both younger and more diverse than the patrons of the symphony orchestra, CSO executive director Jerry Kern told the Denver Post.

We’re so ashamed of Colorado. The only thing worse would have to have elected a no morals, limp-wristed sub IQ marshmallow for governer.
What would be really interesting would be for the orchestra to record an entire concert, get stoned, then record it again.
I’m not sure how many folks they’ll attract with this idea....unless the symphony decides to play a selection of pieces from the Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, and Bob Marley.
“Duuude...like, who is this Beethoven dude?”
They’re a lot easier to rule when they’re stoned (think soma)....
I guess all the orchestra members will be playing Sitars.
This is NOT the Colorado I lived in as a child.
They’re certainly fixated on one issue.
And "Rocky Mountain High" used to be that feeling you got when you were in the mountains knowing that you were not as big as the mountains, but that God was way bigger than them 12,000 footers.
Now it means legal pot.
Way to go you liberal stoners.
That's the dumb stoner you find in movies to make people laugh. Most people I've met who consume cannabis are above average culturally and willing to try new learning experiences. They just keep the cannabis a secret in public. As the stigma around it declines, you'll meet more of them. You'll be surprised to find many hardworking people you look up to consume it in private.
Roll Over, Beethoven*.
