Israeli company Rafael and Indian group Kalyani cooperate in upgrading Soviet BMP APCs

Israeli-Indian cooperation: Rafael offers an upgrade for Soviet-made BMP Armored Personnel Carriers through a cooperative alliance with India's Kalyani Group.

An experimental model of the upgraded APC has been showcased at the DefExpo exhibition in New-Delhi in February 2014.

In the context of the cooperative effort, Rafael installed a Mark-II Remotely Controlled Weapon Station which includes a 30mm cannon, a coaxial MAG machine gun and launchers for two Spike ATGMs, along with a payload for the commander and gunner, which provides them with a 360-degree field of view even from inside the vehicle. The payload is made by the Tamam division of IAI.

The Indian company was responsible for upgrading the vehicle. Sources at Rafael say that BMP APCs mounted with an older model RCWS by Rafael had successfully served the Czech Army in Afghanistan.

The Indian Army currently has in service about 2,000 BMP APCs in need of upgrading.ž

Nice passenger windows, do they roll down?

Got to wonder if they were a display feature for inside peeking. No way they could work in the field unless some of that StarTrek transparent aluminum has been invented.

Do you see that? While Obama continues his multi-million dollar Vacation from being president, and describes how similar we are to human rights abusers in Malaysia,
Israel and Russia and India have been chatting together, creating alliances, coming to conclusive decisions about the big things in life.
All wide important roads do not necessarily lead back to the United States anymore, now that we’re riding in the passenger seat of little red caboose way at the end of things, vs taking the lead like all other recent presidents.

With Obama's United Socialist States of America (U.S.S.A.), cozying up to Al Qaeda and Iran, Israel is seeking new allies.

Indian and Israeli cooperation continues to grow. As it does with Russia, who I'm sure would love to apply Israeli technology to their military exports. The US doesn't need it as we don't really need much of a military anymore.

...we don't really need much of a military anymore.

I hope that remark was tongue-in-cheek, a barb aimed at the Obama regime's plans to downsize the military.

Kind of, American policy is set by the administration whether we like it or not, and that's the policy. We're killing the Tomahawk, Hellfire and A10 programs, and keeping a carrier group at home rather than deployed. Two out there instead of three. Some of our most valuable platforms of the last several decades. Doesn't matter if I'm being sarcastic relative to the future or not. Abroad, particularly to our enemies, it is a fact is, America feels it doesn't need much of a military any more, and has no intention of projecting force.

Of course Obama isn't here forever, a distinction lost on many foreign tyrants. Or in many cases completely understood, creating a three year timeframe for successful aggression.

But even Obama has a red line, related to how he's viewed by history, not the security of America. Miscalculations, which Obama policies encourage, that's how wars start.
