A Man of Sterling Character ... Ann Coulter
Ann Coulter Dot Com ^ | 30 Apr 2014 | Ann Coulter

** NOTE: Some quoted language below may offend readers.**

I had listened to roughly eight hours of commentary on Donald Sterling and the ugly remarks he made in conversations secretly tape-recorded by his girlfriend, before I heard anyone mention a wife.

HE HAS A WIFE?

At first, I thought the topic must have changed when I left the room, but no -- the TV talking heads were still discussing Sterling advising his girlfriend to stay away from blacks.

Not only does Sterling have a wife of 50 years, but earlier this year, she sued his girlfriend, demanding the return of two Bentleys, a Ferrari, a Range Rover and a $1.8 million apartment, claiming it was bought with community property without the wife's consent.

The fact that this 80-year-old human-manatee, married with three children, has been openly consorting with prostitutes for decades does not account for 1 percent of the media's outrage against Sterling.

Wow. Cultural mores certainly do change. In 1947, it was a scandal when Brooklyn Dodgers manager Leo Durocher was alleged to have been having an affair with a married actress, Laraine Day.

Durocher himself was not married, but Day, a Mormon who never smoked or drank, divorced her husband and married Durocher the day after being granted a provisional divorce decree. The divorce wasn't final, so the judge who signed the decree ordered Day and Durocher to live separately in California. (Yes, this was so long ago, the institution of marriage was still respected in California.)

And they did. She lived with her mother in Santa Monica and Durocher moved into a nearby hotel.

That blond next to him, is his wife of 50 years. Remember she is suing the mistress for return on properties he bought her with community property money.

Just wait to the NBA tries to get Donnie to sell the Clippers to the big O or Magic. She will play the woman card and by the way boys it is community property, it's mine and you can't make me sell.

A good old cat fight.

Thick as thieves. Those two remind me of The Clintons. ‘Married’, yes, but on their own terms. Maybe his wife was expected to ‘handle’ the high maintenance Bimbo Eruptions.
Recall that author Tolstoy said ‘each family is unhappy in their own way’ how very true.

Supposedly, no. I’ve read that he donated to a few Dems up to 20 years ago, but he is presently registered as a Republican.

I had never realized that Ann Coulter is a man.

That, or bad headlines have struck again.

Donald Sterling - Democrat

Donald Sterling a guy who gives to some Democratic candidates, but is a registered Republican. I just wish conservatives wouldn't use him as a guy who needs to be put on a pedestal. I just am not sympathetic to him at all.

I'm not either, but the mob rule which has judged him guilty of thoughtcrime and speechcrime is not a good thing.

We don't put him on a pedestal. I think he's a scummy louse. But that doesn't mean I believe he can have his business taken away for arbitrary reasons. And yes, I think any org. or business has the right to expel members who don't abide by its rules and regulations.

But the questions are: does the punishment for Sterling fit the "crime"? And is the NBA a bunch of hypocrites for ignoring similar transgression by other people associated with the league but who don't look like Sterling? And if anybody can have their business taken away because of something they said deemed injurious by certain people, who will be safe?

Is Sterling a bigot? He may very well be, but even his current gold digging girl friend is half black. And nowhere in the recoreded conversation used against him did he use racial slurs. He even said, when asked by his gf, that he likes black people.

Now, he might have been lying about liking black people, but so what? How many black people in the NBA do you think have said racist or objectionable things about white people? Do you think they'll be punished? Spike Lee anybody?

So because you don’t like him any injustice done to him is ok with you.

Please do not sit on my jury, or anyone else’s for that matter.

I never said any of that. However, look at the facts of the case which is what I would do on a jury. He represents the team...Yes. He spoke words that were immature at best....yes. He has had many cases that he settled out of court....yes. On the flip side. He was speaking his opinion...yes. He was speaking in private....yes. He was not aware that it was taped...probably. It seems 50-50 to me. It would be hard to sit on the jury quite frankly because both positive and negatives are pretty even. In this case, for him to lose the team. 75 percent (which is incredible high to me and very fair) of the current owners have to vote to have him sell the team.
