...The current Heisman Trophy winner was cited after ordering $32 worth of food from the supermarket and leaving without paying for the items. Video captured Winston in the store and leaving the store without paying....

"In a post-Miranda interview he did in fact acknowledge he had left Publix without paying for the items" said Maj. Woods. "He indicated to the deputies he had forgotten and when he got home he realized he had not paid, but he in fact made no effort to contact Publix or return to pay prior to the Deputy's arrival."

Winston was not charged with a crime. If he completes a community service program, no misdemeanor charges will be filed.

I think I will go and steal some crab legs at a Publix, see if I get the same treatment.

Watching Florida sports media today is HILARIOUS. They are treating shoplifting as no big deal and are PRAISING the thief for “taking responsibility”.

See there? Got double standard, media?

I'm as big a sports fan as anyone, but that's the kind of crap I find nauseating.

Once this dude can't throw a football anymore none of these morons making excuses for him will give a sh!t about him ... and he'll be just another quasi-humanoid thug the next time he gets caught shoplifting.

Teaching him he can get away with murder.

Of course if he had an opportunity to better himself and could look forward to an excellent financial future he would be a fine upstanding citizen. /s

Hyped pro or college football and basketball players can lie, cheat, steal, commit sexual assault, and even participate in murder (Ray Lewis) and not only get away with it, but be praised by sycophantic media knotheads.

Just don’t say anything the least bit racially insensitive — if you do, then you’re toast.

Yep even in private. If you are white and say anything jessie & al don't like and they find out then LOOK OUT. . .The more money you have the harder they come after you. . . .

Don't these maroons know how to behave?

I remember when sports figures were, almost to a man, idols that kids could look up to. Now, all to often, the exact opposite is true.

And the privileged handling these cretins get only makes it that much worse.

Jameis better watch it. As soon as his eligibility expires, he’s expendeble. At Mississippi State, we had a running back in the early 2000’s who had all kinds of shenanigans washed away by the local authorities. However, a year after he quit the team, he got years for dealing dope. He only recently got out of prison.

Winston should have just said he couldn’t take going to bed hungry any longer and complain about how college players are exploited and need a union, yada yada.

The UConn bball player who reported this was revered by all.

My Alma Mater. Ugh! Well he was hungry apparently. They don’t get paid remember. It is not like he is a quarterback in the pros. Not that it is a good idea to go around stealing groceries, but the dude was hungry. lol.

Well at least don’t be a moron and have it taped. Most of the “private” moments are taped.
