Two Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputies are under fire, accused of using excessive force—and all of it was caught on camera.
BSO is conducting an internal affairs investigation to find out if the two officers involved were justified in using force and are also questioning why Sheriff Scott Israel wasn’t notified until three months after the incident....

Federal Documents obtained by CBS4 allege Deputy Lambert of “striking, pummeling and pounding” a party host while responding to a noise complaint in Dania Beach back in 2009.
I hope the guy didn’t have a dog.
Funny, the sheriff’s good friend Debbie Wasserman Schultz hadn’t said anything about the abuse rampant in the Broward Sheriff’s office.
Look at the video. The cops were brutal. Their report said they “escorted” Mr. Gonzalez to the ground.
BOTH of those dogs worked TOGETHER (after one of them having sucker punched the drunk in the face)to violently slam the man down into the concrete. It was brutal and intentional, and the “Use of Force” documentation they filed was an outright lie.
This video is going to cost Broward one hell of a lot of money. If they had any sense they would file criminal charges against both of the Deputies for attempted murder.
The Gonzalez guy was absolutely no threat.
Really, I am generally a law and order citizen. This seems to be a case of the law keepers becoming law breakers.

This incident happened just three months after BSO shelled out $350,000 to settle a federal lawsuit involving Deputy Lambert, who allegedly beat and abused another Broward citizen.
This guy's a liability.

BSO settles Dania couple's false arrest lawsuit for $350,000

A Dania Beach couple has agreed to a $350,000 settlement after filing a federal lawsuit claiming deputies with the Broward Sheriff's Office wrongfully arrested them at their home in 2009 over a noise complaint.
Jorge Rodriguez, 50, was stunned several times with a Taser, tackled and beaten in front of his children and friends during a party at his home on Dec. 6, 2009, the lawsuit stated.
"He was Tased, he was pummeled, he was lifted up from the ground by his forearms while he was handcuffed," said Gary Kollin, attorney for the couple. "His face was swollen with cuts and there were some Taser burns on his back."
The lawsuit went to trial Nov. 12 in West Palm Beach, and was settled on the seventh day of trial, Kollin said.
Deputies Justin Lambert, James Cady and Randy Villata, and Sheriff Scott Israel, as head of the agency, were named as defendants.
A Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman declined to comment.
Deputies had said Rodriguez tried to punch and kick them, but Rodriguez and witnesses said that never happened, Kollin said.
The lawsuit stated that Rodriguez did not resist arrest in any way, although deputies charged him with resisting arrest with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer.
Rodriguez went to trial on those charges in July 2011. A jury found him not guilty.
His wife, Maria Rentel, 48, had been charged with disorderly conduct, but was acquitted by a judge in December 2010.
The couple's friend William Pineiro also was arrested at the party when he questioned why his friends were under arrest. His charges were later dropped.
Two years ago, a federal jury awarded Pineiro $250,000 in a wrongful arrest lawsuit.
For more than 20 years, the family had thrown a party in early December to celebrate the holidays and Rodriguez's birthday.
Since the arrests, the parties have ended, Kollin said.

There are probably a lot of cops like this and now that everybody has cameras on their phones, more of this will come to light. Unless the cops grab the phones and smash them, too.

They passed a law in MD forbidding filming of cops after one biker’s helmet cam showed the cop beating the crap out of him for no reason.
The guy probably didn’t give these ‘officers’ the respect that they think everyone should have for their awesomeness.
Their word and their person are inviolate, and any response they deem needed is correct - even to the point of having to falsify the documentation afterwards.
A hand outstretched, even in the most nonthreatening manner, becomes a violent assault attempt and a trigger goes off in their limited brain functions to escalate to the highest response possible given the victim had no weapon on him.
They TRIED to kill him by propelling him into the concrete, and if I were on a jury I would vote guilty on a charge of attempted murder.
I see the man reaching towards one of the officers belt just prior to being punched and slammed down. Watch each and every clip, one of them have him definitely reaching between the officers with his left hand at their waste high.
He may just be animated with his hands while talking, but that reach was awfully close to their belts and guns perhaps.
can you cite that law. My understanding that in public view merely recording a police officer is not a crime.
How can it be illegal to film cops “doing their jobs”? That makes me sick. What did they base that law on?

The First Court of Appeals has reached a decision that would allow the general public to video-tape police officers while they are working. This decision comes right after several well-known public cases have come to light involving citizens being arrested for video-taping police.

Cops for the most part are nothing more than steroid raging anger freaks anymore. They make stormtroopers look benevolent based on their behavior nowadays.
So long as they all go home safely right?
