Just breaking on AFP. More as it becomes available.
Ukraine is entering a long civil war.
Entering? It’s been a civil war for over a month.
BAD - Pro-Russians seize government building in Donetsk
GOOD - Leftists and “Progressives” seize government buildings and parks in the USA
Now breaking on BBC.
Ukraine crisis: Kiev reinstates conscription
Ukraine’s acting President Olexander Turchynov has reinstated military conscription to deal with deteriorating security in the east of the country.
The move, announced in a decree, came as pro-Russia militants seized the regional prosecutor’s office in the eastern city of Donetsk.
Ukraine blames Russia for organising the seizures of a number of offices in the east, a claim Moscow denies
“GOOD - Leftists and Progressives seize government buildings and parks in the USA”
Occupy was organized by the same people that put Obama in office, so of course it was “good” to our media.
Civil War, Conscription...
This Euromaidan thing sure is working out swell, doncha think?
How will this be received within Ukraine? Will the citizenry rally around the Kyiv government or will this increase the instability that is already building and threaten the central government?
The good news is that the people of Ukraine no longer have to pay to get rid of used tires. They can now get extra cash for their used tires instead.
“The good news is that the people of Ukraine no longer have to pay to get rid of used tires.”
Did the Maidan buy Carbon Credits for those burning tires before they lit them off?
“Conscripts, have no fear, Obama has your back.”
“Let me be clear... If you like your arms and legs, you can keep your arms and legs. PERIOD!”
Police leaving Procecuters building after disarming and go down the peoples chain ally to safety
For those in the East the current Kiev government is unelected, undemocratic, coup-government....huge difference between Euromaidan and East Ukraine now. ....Euromaidan was action against a ‘legal’ gov....... This is against Kiev’s ‘illegal’ goverment.
So it looks as if Kiev has basically declared a civil war by reinstating the military conscription.
And it’s 5, 6 ,7, open up the pearly gates.
Off topic, but their weather looks a heck of a lot better than ours here in MA.
We have not been effected by Global Warming.
“their weather looks a heck of a lot better than ours here in MA.”
It is the first of May, and I have had the convertible out exactly ONCE, and I had to go 100 miles south to put the top down and not freeze.
Globo’ Warmin’ my a**....
Ukraine will split, as it is anyway...there is a vast “culture” difference between East and West.....
The current Gov. is primarily Western Ukraine which carries a large segment of Nazi adhereants....Eastern Ukraine is predominately Russian and the two will never mix enough to be united.
Trouble for the West is they wanted to go with EU......looks like Russia’s willing to let them go but not with the Industrial sites in EAstern Ukraine nor Crimea where the ports are.
Putin’s securing the “resource areas...so if Western Ukraine breaks off they will have nothing but agriculture to offer the EU.
The Industry in the East is largely Russian Military facilities, under contracts with Ukraine for manufacturing etc. Putin’s not going to let those “secrets” get into Eu/US hands. And the people in the EAst aren’t about ready to loose their jobs for Keiv/Us/Eu plans for taking it over.
On April 29, pro-Russian separatists took control of the regional administration building in Luhansk, adding to their tally of occupied government buildings in Ukraine’s east. Local police stood by as the insurgents, backed by a crowd of about 3,000 protesters, seized the building. Additional buildings were taken over the city of Horlivka, Donetsk Oblast, and in Pervomaisk, Luhansk Oblast.
Though interim President Oleksandr Turchynov announced on April 22 that Ukraine’s military would restart its anti-terrorist operation in the east, Ukraine has been unable to stop separatists from taking control of cities in Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts.
Ironic that what happened in Kiev a couple of months ago is now happening again but a different part of Ukraine and with the opposite outcome.
There’s a huge difference between the two...Kiev was a violent Coup against a legal gov. .....what is happening in the East is opposing the current “illegal” government in Kiev and taking over their own domain so they have self rule.
Ironic, yes, but not unexpected.
I have pointed out regularly, how the Russians have learned from and adapted tactics used by the West in Serbia, Kosovo, Georgia, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, and Syria.
Too bad this stuff was good, ethical, moral and proper when used by the US, UN, NATO, the EU NWO, IMF Socialists, and went bad when the Russians started to use it.
The Russians didn’t have to learn squat. They’ve been doing this for decades. No need for excuses.
Gosh, what did that Ukrainian president do that was illegal, I wonder?
