APNewsBreak: Military sex assault claims up 50 pct
Washington Post/AP ^ | Unattributed

Reports of sexual assaults by members of the military rose 50 percent after the Pentagon began a vigorous campaign to get more victims to come forward, prompting defense officials to order a greater focus on prevention programs, including plans to review alcohol sales and policies.

But officials are still unhappy with the low number of male victims who reported sexual assault, and they say there will be a greater emphasis in the months ahead on getting men to come forward and seek help. Final data obtained by The Associated Press show that about 14 percent of the reports filed last year involved male victims.

Defense officials said Wednesday that encouraging more men to report sexual assaults is a difficult challenge because male victims often worry that it will make people think they are weak and trigger questions about their sexual orientation. In most cases, however, sexual orientation has nothing to do with the assault and it’s more an issue of power or abuse.

“There is still a misperception that this is a women’s issue and women’s crime,” said Nate Galbreath, the senior executive adviser for the Pentagon’s sexual assault prevention office. “It’s disheartening that we have such a differential between the genders and how they are choosing to report.”

“It’s not the damsel in distress; it’s your fellow service member that might need you to step in,” he said, adding that troops need to treat it like any other need for aid, just like on the battlefield.

As a result, Hagel was expected to order the military services to improve reporting by male victims and encourage them to seek assistance. In addition, he was to press for a renewed emphasis on prevention...

Gosh, it sure is hard to understand why men are now being sexually assaulted. Hmmm, why is that? I wonder...

“But officials are still unhappy with the low number of male victims who reported sexual assault...”

This is (inevitably) what we have come to.

Up 50 percent? How would have ever expected this? - said no one ever.

What with dragging little girls into training and then into the field, coupled with faggotry everywhere and then adding coordinated efforts to suppress Christianity...

You mean to tell me sex crimes are going up? Nooo. Who’da thunk?

/bitter “I told you so” sarc off.

I was never, EVER faced with any of this cr@p. Oh, trust me, if it HAD happened the perp would’ve had a negative outcome.

Keep working on destroying our military, you POS Congress Critters and Affirmative Action Usurper POTUS.

Additional words fail me and/or would get me banned. Grrrrr!

Unreal. “Rairness for all?” What, are the recruiting slogans written by 5 year olds now? Oh...worse... Written by progressives. I don’t know who would ever join the military anymore. The POS CIC arms our enemies and will leave you in the field to die. Obama hates the US military.

As predicted by any person with a modicum of experience with boys and girls and in having learned about the behavior of Sodomites preying on the young.

I suspect this is soldiers/marines beating hell out of aggressive `latrine commando’ phaggots emboldened by this administrations policies.

So we’re to assume that for obama’s post-purge military leaders, a huge number of sexual assaults on male military members would be their key to happiness?

But would it make GLAAD glad?

Did anyone really doubt that bringing females into the ranks would have these consequences?

“sexual orientation has nothing to do with the assault and it’s more an issue of power or abuse.”

Are they referring to male-on-male assault? If so, how many straight guys would sexually assault a lower ranking serviceman to assert “power”?

gee, the d***ed politicians are teaching our young boys in our public schools...all about the joys and wonder of homosexual conduct.... and then they are surprised when the boys actually do it? No. This is nothing short of a deliberate assault on our military -— to further weaken us.

Yes, they have more SARC counselors than recruiters. I think the SARCs are pushing for more complaints so they can stay employed. SARCs are sexual assaults counselors.

Females in the ranks is not the issue. They are pushing the fantasy that men and women are the same and this is where the problems start. Long ago women had their own barracks and men were forbidden or they had strict curfews.

They got rid of women only dorms and floors and the problems started then.

They are also promoting this wingman nonsense in the USAF. Men looking after women are a problem waiting to happen once drinks start flowing. They are not being realistic and keep wondering why all their training and policies have resulted in failure.

Almost all the ads are sorry. Women are over represented in almost all the services ads. This is just to prep the public for when they throw them to the wolves and the body bags start coming back.
