Obamacare beneficiary: ‘You wouldn’t have caught me dead watching MSNBC’
washington post ^ | april 29, 2014 | erik wemple

Posted on 05/01/2014 4:56:20 PM PDT by lowbridge

In an interview with the Erik Wemple Blog today, Angstadt reported having watched that MSNBC segment online today. It was an introduction of sorts: “You wouldn’t have caught me dead watching MSNBC,” said Angstadt. “That’s probably the longest I’d ever sat and watched MSNBC in my life.”

Angstadt was in bad condition prior to his March 31 valve-replacement surgery. “I was going to die,” he told this blog. “I was preparing myself. I knew I was pretty sick since last October.” Yet he still resisted the attempts of friend Bob Leinhauser to get him enrolled in Obamacare. “I had to back him into a corner,” says Leinhauser, who worked for 27 years for Montgomery County’s fire and rescue department. He told Angstadt, “You’re what we call a cardiac cripple.”

After signing up for insurance via the Obamacare exchange, Angstadt pays $26.11 for the Highmark Blue Cross silver PPO plan, as reported by the Inquirer. The policy took effect just before Angstadt’s surgery.

But what accounts for Angstadt’s resistance to Obamacare in the first place? He says that he “leans” Republican and essentially listened to what the GOP had to say about Obamacare, and not so much to what the Democrats had to say. As for his media diet, Anstadt says he goes online for some of his news, but when it comes to television, “Fox News, of course, and that’s basically what I watch on TV,” in addition to local news, he says. “I like some of those radicals” on Fox News, he says. “I like O’Reilly.”

re: “I like some of those radicals” on Fox News, he says.”

They’re trying to pass this guy off as some sort of converted conservative. A conservative would not use the term “radicals” to describe someone they thought was truly conservative.

This story sounds bogus to me.

So I am 56 and the silver plan through the california site would cost me about 650.00 a month why does he get to pay
26.11 a month. I have never been sick nor do I need surgery.
Also the deductible was almost 12 K a year.

Didn’t this guy belong to a union? He should have lavish health care benefits.

Twice bypassed myself and without insurance since retiring early by choice last year. Still, I wont become part of that misengination of health and government named the ACA. I may die early but it wont be at the mercy of some bureaucrat who may or may not allow me to have another intervention of cardiac care if needed.

Don’t count me in as one of those converts and I am definitely not a Bill O’Reilly devotee. Mush mouth.

Yes. I know there is a handout waiting for me if I will just climb on the wagon.

But at what cost?

Subsidies FRiend, that’s how. Here’s what you need to do (other than be deathly sick with no income): quit your job, get on welfare, have a few kids you can never afford (preferably out of wedlock) and then you’ll be golden too.

It’s FREE maan, get with the times. What are you some kind of redneck racist with a work ethic?

Well if you could get insurance for 26.11 a month and get operations it sounds like at no charge the way the article is written you should sign up for it.

The states set up high risks pools for people that could not obtain commercial insurance or insurance through an employer. But 0-care eliminated the state plans. Secondly, as a retired fireman in PA, why didn’t he have a big fat juicy taxpayer supported healthcare plan?
This is BS propaganda from the state media as usual.

Right. Let’s all get in the Wagon and scream for someone to pull. Hell. Why is he even paying $26 per month. Why isn’t it free? We should all have free health care.

It’s a pathetic life on the dole but a lot of Americans are willing to give up freedom and self sufficiency to live a lazy life off someone else’s dime.

Phony premise.

Republicans haven’t opposed people buying health insurance.

I pay absolutely nothing. No deductible, monthly payment, copay, prescription costs, etc. I even get paid mileage when I have to travel to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or other medical professional.

So glad Mr. Adgstad got his surgery and one good story of Obamacare. But for every success story there are those that paid for it. Here it is....my friend after 10 years with his company was laid off Tuesday along with others. In addition all employees pay was reduced by 25%. Reason given Obamacare.

If my house were paid off maybe I would although I do not think I would make enough to pay for my property tax.

What are they gonna do when everyone says FUBO and quits working who will pay then Janet Yellen?
