Hate to be a noodge, but I don’t think that’s a sinkhole. The terrain in the background is lower, and this is a slump or a slide off the edge of the higher ground.
This is pretty obvious, actually.

Local DC news showed pics of RR tracks being cleared and CSX hoping freight line open tomorrow....
Odd, seeing as the same report said the houses across the street probably would be uninhabitable for the next few days.
Maybe they are ‘afraid’ of more washouts further under road.
Would think that if RR below slide area, the vibrations etc would trigger more slides....

I saw a photo from another angle today. It appears tobbe a block retaining wall that failed. The media persists in calling it a sinkhole...this type of stuff makes me wonder if media types have any gray matter at all.

It’s clearly a retaining wall, and you wonder how stable the street itself will be after that collapse.

It was the collapse of a retaining wall.
The comment from one of the witnesses was interesting. Something like they have been out here numerous times to fill and I told them this was going to happen. That was before the wall gave. Lawyers from Philly are on high speed cruise control to Baltimore tonight.

Typical easterners, if those were their cars, they just stand there and watch.
Useless fools could have at least tried to drive the cars things to safety. But no, that is not the eastern way. Better to stay safe and dial 911.

Pissonem...the stupid sheep have enough time to stand around with their cell phones taking pictures but are too dumb to get an tow truck in there to haul the cats out.
They deserve it...and toss that screamer woman in to boot.

Check out a modern college. Journalism majors are one step up from Education majors. Ed majors are the absolute bottom of the academic barrel. The ones who, in reality, are too stupid to actually qualify for college, but are there because they can’t find a real job.
