LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Thousands of people arrived in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday for the annual May Day marches supporting immigrant rights.

This year's march is themed, "Keeping families together," emphasizing the goal of ending deportations that split parents from their children. Other issues brought forward included increasing the federal minimum wage and immigrant worker rights.

"It's the day that we remind the American public and the government that there's a great debt to our community," said Angelica Salas, executive director of Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles. "We work hard in every single industry, yet we don't have the recognition or the respect that we deserve."

Saw local aerial coverage, If that was “thousands” then the Rose Bowl must hold about a million people.

Deportations don’t split up families. I’m not aware that the government is forcing people to stay in the country against their will. OTOH, since the people knew that they were breaking into the country against the law, and this could happen, how can it be said to be the country’s fault if they get deported?

You said “liberal” and “logic” in the same sentence. Watch that.

Guess the Koreans and the Indians and the Italians and the Brits - and everyoen else who waits and waits and does the paperwork and abides by the rules - is sh*t outta luck, cuz, hey, the entire nation is fulla Mexicans who snuck in and won’t leave and everybody and his brother wants ‘em to stay.

But, hey, as Obama and Rahm have demonstrated beyond any shadow of a doubt, laws don’t mean sh*t anymore.

When the votes do not matter any longer and the US cannot borrow to feed the LeechState anymore...and hyperinflation hits....then the true US citizenry will act. Unfortunately, it will have to be a total collapse by overspending and printing to wake up most people.

Immigrants have rights. These are not immigrants, they are illegal invaders. By the way, it is illegal in Mexico for foreign to conduct any political activity. They'd be rounded up and jailed. Mexican prisons are not nice places.

Bloody hypocrites. Lying, disembling Media. Lawless US government. We're not on a good trend line, folks. Without an opposition party that opposes, and an elected majority that makes a policy U-turn, this is going to end up in a shooting war.
