So all those nations that are dependent on Russian fossil fuels are going to join Obama in this adventure?

So all those nations that are dependent on Russian fossil fuels are going to join Obama in this adventure?

They're dependent on it the way the average consumer is dependent on Walmart to buy cheap groceries. The gas is cheap, but they're not about to sacrifice Ukraine, which is a vital buffer state, just for cheap gas. And that is why they're beginning to push back against Putin's imperial ambitions.

Many of them are not quite as dependent as you seem to think, and even those that are (such as Poland) rightfully place their security objectives higher than the economic cost of confronting Russia.

In addition, I don't know why you characterize this as Obama's adventure: he is desperately trying to avoid any involvement possible besides the rhetorical support for Kiev he finds necessary to dampen political fallout from his malevolent cravenness.

I'm sure Obama (like much of the treasonous American left) would love to see a return of the Warsaw Pact as a check on American power-- he just hasn't found a politically palatable way to get the American people to swallow that turd.
