... “Our security forces are fighting mercenaries of foreign states, terrorists and criminals,” Turchynov said in a statement.

One of the downed helicopters was hit by a surface-to-air missile, the Ukrainian Security Service said, calling it a sophisticated weapon that undercut Russia’s claims the city was simply under the control of armed locals. The agency said its forces were fighting “highly skilled foreign military men” in Slovyansk....

Ukrainian troops met fierce resistance Friday morning but managed to take control of nine checkpoints on the roads around Slovyansk, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said. He called on the insurgents to lay down their arms and release their hostages.

“We are ready to negotiate with protesters and their representatives,” Avakov said. “But for terrorists and armed separatists, there is only punishment.”...

CBS correspondent Clarissa Ward told “CBS This Morning” that she and her crew were stopped by pro-Russia insurgents at a checkpoint just outside Slovyansk, then taken to a nearby town where they were blindfolded tightly with masking tape. They were released several hours later, unharmed except for one man who was beaten....

lets be clear, there is a large ethnic Russian population in Ukraine, many of who have served in the military and who are now fighting to take back their country from the terrorists which overthrew the democratically elected government in Kiev a month or so ago.

Your mean like this unlawful combatant from KAZAN, RUSSIA?

First thing’s first, Yakunivich was NOT democratically elected, he took power in the same manner he did in 2004 before the Orange revolution.

Second thing, many of those who are rebelling against the current Ukrainian government are communists.

“I thought the terrorist were those who rioted in Kiev a month or so ago and overthrew the democratically elected government by force.”

No. Those were the Ukrainians who freed their country of a tyrannical government ruled by a Pro-Russian oligarchy linked thug president. The Ukrainian parliament ratified - unanimously - the actions of the Ukrainian protestors and impeached the thug president who fled, of course, to his masters in Russia.

“now they seem to want to use force against protestors, when I thought the use of force against protestors was what they were so mad about a month ago.”

There are no Russian “protestors”. They are armed and trained agents sponsored by the Russian government. They are armed with Ak-47s and AK-74s, rocket propelled grenades, and sometimes even armored personnel carriers, heavy machine guns and grenades. Some of the equipment is stolen Ukrainian equipment, but it has shown up too quickly and in too great quantities to be merely stolen equipment. Clearly Russia is supplying the Russian separatists.

The Ukrainians wanted to end a corrupt government which was pro-Russian. They did so. The Russians want to end the Ukraine.

If you can’t see the difference between those two things you have a greater problem than understanding the geo-political situation in Ukraine.

“no... but I can imagine a few of the thugs which overthrew the democratically elected government laying dead in the street after the Russians tire of their tyranny.”

What tyranny? The new Ukrainian government hasn’t done anything to anyone. All it is trying to do is hold together the Ukraine and it has every right to do it.

That's for the link. The title, "Russian Terrorists Firing In The Football Ultras In Odessa" says it all.

Perhaps those thugs were the ones who eventually died in the fire.

There are some reports they were chased back to the Trade Union building.

I feel bad for those kids in the video mixed up in this. Dim bulb dupes. The commies always find and use them. Sad.

Have you noticed the recent lack of coverage of Ukraine in the MSM?

Their propaganda dumping on Russia has lost it's steam. Just like Syria being confronted by a bombing attack by Obama and McCain, Americans are beginning to condemn what Obama and the EU are up to.

Russia won on the Syria issue and imo will win on preventing Ukraine from being annexed by NATO.

....forces are fighting mercenaries of foreign states, terrorists and criminals.....

..During the 1970s and 1980s,..,immigrated to the U.S.... it is believed that under this guise the KGB also emptied their prisons of hard-core criminals, much like Cuban dictator Fidel Castro did. Many of these criminals are believed to have continued their life of crime in the United States...

Finally some of the russian/ukrainian Gangsters can go back and have something to fight for...or can build Churches.

“Russia won on the Syria issue and imo will win on preventing Ukraine from being annexed by NATO.”

NATO has no power or ability to annex countries. Never had it. Never will. NATO is a voluntary military alliance. You would have come across as more credible if you said the EU was going to annex Ukraine. You would still be very wrong because no such ability exists for the EU, but at least your attempted satire would have made more sense.

Ukraine wasn't being annexed by NATO. To say that Russia is preventing Ukraine from being annexed by NATO is nonsense.

And Syria has nothing to do with Ukraine.
