Boehner facing tea party challenge (Tuesday!!)

WASHINGTON —

After more than two years of trying to accommodate arch conservative lawmakers and organizations in Washington, House Speaker John Boehner appears to have declared his independence.

As he faces a challenge Tuesday from tea party conservatives in the Republican primary, Boehner, R-West Chester Twp., seems to delight in aiming a barb here and a blast there at those who constantly talk about trying to depose him after the November election.

Just last month in a speech in Middletown, Boehner referred to the conservative pressure on House GOP lawmakers to oppose an overhaul of the nation’s immigration system. Declaring that “we get elected to make choices,’’ Boehner complained in a mocking tone that many Republicans are saying, “Ohhh, don’t make me do this.’’

Last year as he attempted to nudge House Republicans toward a budget compromise that would cut the deficit by $23 billion, Boehner assailed as “ridiculous” complaints from independent conservative groups such as Heritage Action and Freedom Works before the deal had been made public.

The barbs have hit their mark. Tea party groups have launched multiple “Fire Boehner” websites and one of Boehner’s primary opponents — J.D. Winteregg of Troy — has the backing of the Tea Party Leadership Fund PAC, which has spent more than $300,000 either on pro-Winteregg or anti-Boehner advertisements.

“You can’t swing a dead cat without reading a story about some conservative saying they want to take Boehner out,” said former Republican congressman Steve LaTourette of Bainbridge Twp.

C’mon Tea Partiers in that District. This is vital. Take Boehner out in the Primary and it will be Titanic. Don’t ... and it will be equally Titanic. They will know they can ignore us. PLEASE VOTE!!

PLEASE VOTE!!

Defeating Boner would send such a strong message that the revolution is here. We will reclaim our party and country.

GET OUT THE VOTE!

look what we did here in Oklahoma. We defeated the RINO John Sullivan and elected Jim Bridenstein. It is not hard. Not impossible. Get 5 people to see things our way. Get those 5 to get 5 more. It becomes a Tidal wave.

You say that, but consider: Why did The Speaker suddenly come off the dime and ask for a select committee on Benghazi? Don’t be surprised if after Tuesday he suddenly changes his mind.

Boehner is the caricature of spinelessness and exuberance in giving democrats everything they could possibly want or need.

We need a strong assertive Speaker of the House. John Boehner is not the man for that job.

These are not times for republicans to be reaching across the aisle, acting bipartisan on every issue and attempting to be "centrist" in ideology. The base is conservative and continual attempts by the GOP and RNC to ignore that fact are destroying the party from within. We need a uniter, not a Boehner divider.

Oh exactly. That Committee will go NOWHERE. It will make some noise, but will be as buffoonish as Issa. This is for show only to save Boehner. Whatever it does will be limited to “echo chamber” chatter.

I share your concern.

(Think McCain, before-and-after the election, here)

Unfortunately I do not think it will happen this Tuesday. The slobbering drunk will be his party’s nominee in Nov

Then the Tea Party can boycott his election. He can't win in November without the Tea Party and if I were in his district, there is no way I would be casting my vote for him. Better to vote for Mickey Mouse.

If he doesn't get re-elected, then he won't be the speaker and maybe the next one will get the message.

Does Winteregg’s funny ad actually screw up the chances of uniting behind one candidate?

I thought the other challenger was in the lead amongst challengers.

Boo Hoo Boner is not worried. He will have the same election results in his Ohio district that his hero, golfing buddy, and chummy chummy chum, Obamalamadingdong had in certain Cleveland districts in 2012. Guaranteed win for him Tuesday. I think the November boycott is an excellent suggestion. After all, one less RINO will not shift the caucus. Just got to hope Eric Cantor gets the heave ho in Nov. because of a similar well documented and advertised vote boycott.

Boehner, McCain, Graham, McConnell etal make LUCY 'yanking the football' from a Trusting Charlie Brown look like a Pacifist.

When it looks 'shaky', they toss some 'bait' to us but know one notices it is attached to a boomerang - meant to tease, little else...

Any opponent of Boehner and his cronies should have that photo of him 'caressing' BO made into a T Shirt and GIVE THEM AWAY for people to wear in public.

BTW a 'boomerang' that doesn't come back is just a stick.

“I’m one district over...”

Establish a residency there. Rent a storage compartment in that district and send some mail there. That’s what a democrap would do.
