Showdown over Ukraine sparks Cold War-style propaganda battle

WASHINGTON -- Fed up with the Russian government’s false claims early in the Ukraine crisis, the State Department issued an unusual, point-by-point takedown along with a cheeky note that said not since 19th-century novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky had the world seen such “startling Russian fiction.”

The jab didn’t seem to hurt in Moscow. A pro-Kremlin newspaper columnist mocked the Obama administration’s “excellent knowledge of Russian literature.” And an undeterred President Vladimir Putin spent the next several weeks polishing his narrative of a strong Russia standing up to Western imperialism in order to protect a vulnerable ethnic Russian population from an illegitimate, Nazi-infiltrated new Ukrainian leadership.

In retaliation, the State Department fired off a second literary-themed fact sheet: “Russian Fiction the Sequel: 10 More False Claims about Ukraine.”

Who to believe? Jay Carney and the White House or the Russian Information Ministry?

How can I tell the difference between Russian Propaganda and the Mainstream American Media Propaganda?

Both hate the United States.

I contend that the total lack of credibility of the current administration is now a National Security issue.

In times of world conflict you have to be able to believe your own government...at least that's how we were all raised in the USA>

Sadly, we can no longer believe a word they say.

But dangerous too. How would they ever mobilize the population if they ever had to?

I just posted this over on another thread. The deal is done, Ukraine except for Lviv is Putin’s.

Kosovo is Obama’s.

World chess. Putin wins.

Evening of May 8, the tanks will roll to Donetsk, Kiev, Kharkiv, and Odessa. Lviv will probably be spared.

May 9, Russia will control 90 % of Ukraine in a mostly bloodless coup.

May 9 is a holiday and represents Victory day from the Nazi oppression in Ww2.

http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/ukraine/victory-day

The Orange Revolution will be stamped out person by person. The current government will be exiled or shot.

If you are in Ukraine, get out now, any way possible, or go to Lviv. Obama has sold you out. John Kerry sold you out.

Obama sold out Ukraine, probably to swap for some Muslim shi hole like Kosovo.

Here is the Washington post map of Russian troop movements, a pretty good recap.

Obama will be golfing on Mothers Day while Putin takes over Ukraine and exiles or shoots the NSA installed Ukraine government.

Seriously, if you are there, or know anyone there, it’s time to go.

What are you drinking? Must be good.

Ukraine is nation of 40+ million and the size of Texas. We saw yesterday what happens when Putin’s goons open fire on unarmed Ukrainian patriots. I am sure Putin noticed too. He won’t be invading all of Ukraine any time soon. He may take another bite but that’s it.

“How can I tell the difference between Russian Propaganda and the Mainstream American Media Propaganda?”

That is a HUGE part of the problem.
Obama has so much, so many times, about so many things, that he is completely unbelievable now.
And as another Freeper has already said, that is now a National Security Issue.

Whine about “Russian Propaganda”, and then quote Euromaidan PR as Gospel.

Fact is that Right-Sector haters turned a Football rally violent, and attacked the Anti-Maidan encampment. That started the ball rolling.

And the videos PROVE that there wasn’t any shooting until Right_Sector drove a stolen Fire Truck through the street barricade, injury many people.

After that, it was a free for all, until the Slaughter in the Customs House.

Forget the Propaganda BS, and LOOK AT THE VIDEOS. There are hundreds of them now online.

Your post is full of false statements. For example, there’s evidence of the pro-Russian attackers colluding with police before the events.

The whole pre-planned provocation scenario fits the literally dozens of other similar assaults and attacks carried out over the past few months by pro-Russians on Ukrainians. They did the same in Donetsk on Tuesday. Why are you ignoring that fact?

Who was shooting at the Ukrainians? Allegedly unlawful combatant foreign nationals. That is an act of war and a war crime if true.

You dismiss a Ukrainian source out of hand and routinely parrot Russian government propaganda. There’s only one foreign country with unlawful combatants in Ukraine. That would be Russia. And yet you quote their propaganda religiously on a conservative website.

Quote- ‘’that is now a National Security Issue’’

Well then should not we the people, who make up this
nation force our government and ourselves to help send
the terrorist home to putin...Raise hell rather than
act resignedly, making it seem part of us support Russia.

I sit here in Michigan, a 74 year old pissed off, poor
redneck, and so upset, I’d go there and help them
out if it was possible.....

And our government has criminally destroyed our
military so it can’t even save 4 people in an embassy.....

Ukraine is one of few special places worth saving from
being subjected to russian or any other’s slavery........

There are things that stick in a man’s craw, that bother
worse than the thought of death...Ed

What videos? I’m not interested in dead body snuff videos if that is what you are talking about.

I guess it’s good to know that the real problem in Odessa was Ukrainians brought a fire truck to a gun fight. If only they hadn’t brought that fire truck and accepted their deserved beat down nobody would have died. Right?

Is that it? Do you have more?

Anything from the street assault? There were live streams from both sides and the only shooting was from the Russian/police side. Feel free to correct me.

“Evening of May 8, the tanks will roll to Donetsk, Kiev, Kharkiv, and Odessa. Lviv will probably be spared.”

Kiev won’t be on the list, and Odessa is too far.

I doubt you will see any large-scale invasion of anything outside of the South-East. The “Risk vs. Return” is too high.

An Obama-Style Libyan “No Fly Zone”, however, would be far more effective, at far less cost.

Since you seem to like vidoes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1g1de—iew&app=desktop

Here one from the street. Pro-Russian shooting AK at Ukrainians. I’m sure your aware there are many more pics/videos of similar activity by other pro-Russians.

There just isn’t any evidence of similar actions by Ukrainians in the street. All you’ve got is your fire truck best as I can see.
