But wait a minute. This is a president who used to say we could swing for the fences. We could repair America's relationships with its allies, enjoy a "reset" with Russia, embrace the Muslim world and make peace just about everywhere.
The failures call to mind the question a famous Alaskan foreign policy analyst once asked: "How's that hopey-changey thing working out for ya?"

What I want is more attention to our own hemisphere and less involvement in disaster over there.
If we’re going to worry about Russians and islamists, we should worry about their growing presence in our own back yard.

Obama promised them he would give them a weaker America when he campaigned for president.
They loved him for it and voted for him.
So far that is the only campaign promise he has kept so what’s their gripe now?
Not just in this hemisphere....how about in the US? A few hot summer nights and disagreements or large gatherings getting out of hand, and we could have unrestrained chaos in some US cities and large venues.
The summer of 1968 was like that in quite a few US cities. It doesn't take much for chaos to break out. I was in a peaceful setting once that summer, walking through Boston Common. And all of a sudden...who knows what started it?....a mob scene erupted. Back then, there weren't many people who were armed. I don't want to imagine the results if something like that happened today.
I’d settle for having nothing,NOTHING, to do with arming,supporting, funding of any Mohamhead for any reason at all.
Obviously within our borders is our primary concern and securing those borders is a good start but there is a growing islamist (primarily Iranian) and Russian threat in central and south America.
Obviously we don’t want Obama to deal with it because we saw what he did when the Honduran president was impeached.
The lame-stream starting to worry about their children and grandchildren too? Couldn’t be. Wouldn’t make sense. Somebody is going to cut their payments off if this keeps up.
You will probably live long enough to regret living in a fantasy of closing your eyes to the world and allowing evil to build and grow at their own pace, until resistance becomes futile, long before the stage of troops physically occupying us.
Putin is already rearranging Europe as we impotently watch, China is doing the same in it’s part of the world that it is focusing on, when it is too late, you will see that isolationism doesn’t work when your enemies control the world and global economies, and military alliances, but it will be too late, but most people won’t even notice as we engage in international dealings from a position of the dominated and negotiate for crumbs.
I really don’t care what you think.

Obama - peace will come to Iraq, if only we’d leave
reality - the war in Iraq minus the U.S. continues and minus the U.S. the center of power returns to the pattern of Saddam
Obama - peace will come to the Middle East if only we can browbeat Israel enough that she gives up her security and accepts eventual national suicide
reality - Israel cannot be browbeaten into acceptance of agreements that are not in her interest and conning “Palestinians” into thinking some 3rd party like the U.S. can make Israel give up its security is a fools errand conducted by foolish diplomats
Obama - the U.S. and Russia can move to global peace and partnership if only the U.S. “resets” U.S. perceptions of Russia to the point of one-sided nuclear arms reductions in Russia’s favor, letting Russia have its way bullying its near neighbors, ignoring Russian cooperation with tyrants, ignoring a Russian military buildup and force modernization on a scale larger than anything since the Soviet union collapsed and ignoring Russian advances in the western hemisphere in deals with tyrants
reality - the “new” Russia is the imperial Russia of old, reborn on the broken bones of the defunct Soviet Union, which itself was the old imperial Russia with a new found ideological zealousness for an excuse
Obama - we can negotiate with Iran and get an end to her nuclear weapons ambitions
reality - Iran can buy time to complete her nuclear weapons ambitions by conning the U.S. into a diplomatic game in which Iran has no intention of giving up her nuclear ambitions - just stalling for time and getting the stupid U.S. administration to help it achieve that time by believing the negotiations are about what the U.S. wants, and not the mere stall for time that they are
Geopolitically the U.S. is being snookered all over the map and the ones who have really been snookered the most are the American people who were snookered into electing the incompetent Obama.
Right. Someone is going to be “the world’s policeman”. It’d be nice if it isn’t abandoned to a thug.

Being nicer to countries like Russia will not make them nicer to you. The United Nations is not an effective tool for resolving crises. Some foreign leaders are beyond persuasion and diplomacy. There is no “international community” ready to work together to solve problems, and there probably never will be.
You can pin this on Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Susan Rice, but most of all, the buck stops with the president. Those of us who scoffed a bit at a state senator ascending to the presidency within four years on a wave of media hype and adoration are not quite so shocked by this current mess.
We never bought into this notion that getting greater cooperation from our allies, and less hostility from our enemies, was just a matter of giving this crew the wheel and letting them practice, as Hillary Clinton arrogantly declared it, “smart power” (and fronted Time magazine cover).
(These people can’t even label a foreign policy approach without reminding us of how highly they think of themselves.)
They looked out at the world at the end of the Bush years, and didn’t see tough decisions, unsolvable problems, unstable institutions, restless populations, technology enabling the impulse to destabilize existing institutions, evil men hungry for more power, and difficult trade-offs.
