The ambassador knew something that would embarrass or seriously damage the administration. IMHO the administration planned to have him killed. The orders to stand down were sent to ensure the desired outcome.

BHO only did what was consistent with his plan all along. That is to diminish the authority and power of the USA.
Everyone of his actions both regarding domestic and foreign policy has been to see US power and importance diminished.
