Skip to comments.Schadenfreude: MSNBC Anchor Sees His Health Insurance Premiums Skyrocket Under ObamaCare

Thnx Mr. President!
Thats what former MSNBC anchor Dylan Ratigan had to say to President Obama in a tweet earlier today.
He was saying it sarcastically. You know, like when you say thanks a lot! to someone who bumps into you in the hallway, causing you to spill your coffee all over your clothes.
But Mr. Ratigan experienced something far worse than a coffee spill. His health insurance premiums are skyrocketing thanks to the hilariously named Affordable Care Act.
What happened? Well, for starters, Ratigan had catastrophic health insurance coverage. That means that he sees himself as pretty healthy and is willing to pay out-of-pocket for routine medical expenses. However, if he gets hit by the proverbial beer truck and ends up with tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills, hes covered.
That was under his old plan, which cost him $170 per month.
His old plan, of course, wasnt good enough for President Obama. Yes, this is the same President Obama who promised everyone with a straight face that they could their existing health insurance under his new health care law.
Ratigan found out, much like millions of others are finding out, that the President lied when he made that promise.
Now, Ratigans new health insurance premium is $600 per month.
Thnx Mr. President!
We might almost feel sorry for the guy if he wasnt a former MSNBC host who used to berate Republican guests.
Now, he is learning the hard way that those Republicans were promoting ideas that would save him, and millions of other Americans, a lot of money.
Hey, some people learn the hard way.
He used to be on CNBC. He seems all over the lot politically.
I can’t for the life of me figure out why so many people didn’t know from day one that this program would increase the cost of coverage by a LOT.
I LOVE it when an idiot lib has to bend over and take the same suppository he has been pushing on us peasants!
Deceived by Obama and dumped by MSNBC. Is this "As Good As It Gets ?
Me either, but I don’t get any TV “news channels”.
I have a dream that one day, all TV people, movie people, all of the various media hirelings will say...
“Why was it I supported Obama and the Democrats? I cannot remember.”
Hoist by his own Barack.
Ratigan used to host “Fast Money” on CNBC before Melissa Lee. He wanted to go the the ‘Big Show’ on PMSNBC where he could broaden his horizons.
Just a thought, since this was argued in the Supreme Court as a tax, will everyone be able to deduct the cost of the insurance premium from their income tax like we do our federal and state tax bill, Medicare and Social Security taxes?
Just curious, haven’t heard anyone discuss this.
And the answer will be easy - “because conservatives and Christians opposed him and them”
bookmarking for an answer to your question.
Every lib that gets burned reminds me of the closing days of World War II when german civilians were forced to tour the death camps that their beloved fuhrer gave them.
They dismissed everyone that was telling them that this would be the result because they automatically assume our intentions are evil, because their intentions are self-defined as “good”.
“Hey, some people learn the hard way.”
I’ll bet he hasn’t learned anything. At least not anything that would turn him away from the Rats.
The fine was argued to be a tax, not the premiums.
Dumbass would turn around and vote dem again too. These guys are the absolute dumbest bunch of dumbass asses to ever walk the face of the earth.
Hoisted on his own retard...................
Tip to MSM: the Affordable Healthcare Act / Obamacare never was about healthcare. It was about enrolling suckers into what will become an international citizen registry and really sticking it to you later if you don’t obey...
Took it the barack-side.
No. Insurance premiums aren’t taxes and they aren’t deductible from your income taxes.
The tax you pay for not having insurance is a tax. And you can’t deduct that either.
I guess we really shouldn’t be surprised. Thanks.
Another “bit” of interest. Dan was on Fast Money on CNBC with Eric Bolling.
The insurance is not a tax, just the penalty if you don’t buy insurance.
So, no real benefit there, as the penalty/tax is not that high.
I love it when Commies get the karma they deserve..what these idiots want is single payer, Pukelosi has already blamed the debacle of Obamacare on not having a single payer system
My benchmark lib actually stated out loud, as if it were absurd to think differently
“it’s not some attempt to control you, they’re just trying to make it work for everyone”.
This was in response to our discussion about OTC medicines being excluded from the ability to pay through an FSA.
Yes, I am aware of the many ulterior motives of the ACA. I was just dealing with the one Ratigan was talking about at the moment.
The ACA is the largest takeover of private industry in our history, among other things. It is part of a system of total control of the populace.
From the Barack Side to the Dark Side: Now release your anger.
Hey, Dylan: If you like being an a-hole, you can keep being an a-hole. Period.
And then after he stammered a bit he said “Well God bless the U.S. of A!”
Or maybe Dylan Ratigan doesn't know the first rule of MSNBC is 'thou shalt kiss the butt of all democrats'... Time will tell which one it is...
“For tis the sport to have the engineer / Hoist with his own petard.”
If you like being a useful idiot, you can keep being a useful idiot...
until you’re wondering “why am I standing against this pockmarked wall with a blindfold on, and, no, I don’t want a cigarette, smoking’s bad for you”.
He probably still will be paying for all his routine medical expenses. I’m sure he has a high deductible as well.
Most morons I know that signed up for Obamacare are now crying that they are paying for insurance plus ALL their medical expenses because they have high deductibles. Guess they thought having health insurance meant that everything was FREE!
I’d laugh, but it’s not funny for everyone else.
Stupid is as stupid does.
Stupid is as stupid votes.
It was hard to avoid him on NBC-owned networks, as well as the old msnbc.com and also the non-affiliated NYT. I realize that some here won't look at any of that but I prefer to discern useful information on an case-by-case basis.
Old article, BTW.
Aw, he’d just be spendin’ the rest on pot or blow, anyway...
I honestly feel no sympathy for those who've acted as cheerleaders all along. These folks belittled conservatives and Tea Party members, calling us "Chicken Littles."
You made your bed; now sleep in it.
“No. Insurance premiums arent taxes and they arent deductible from your income taxes.”
I deduct my insurance premiums from my Federal Taxes. That’s providing you meet the 7 or 10 percent of your income requirement.
Well, no you don't. It's a different plan and it costs four times as much. Your old plan must have been "substandard". Yeah, that's the ticket.
The premiums aren's the tax. The penalty for not signing up is what's falsely being called a tax.
Two Republicans in front of a Democrat firing squad....
First GOPer: "Hey! Aren't you guys supposed to offer us a cigarette?"
Second GOPer, whispering: "Shhh! Don't make trouble."
The GOP “leadership” needs to be asked how they’d comment on that joke. Spineless bast..ds.
