Maybe we could call it Cinco de Kawanza?

Sink-o de Mayo...better than Kwaanzaa because it’s a lot shorter.

Someday soon, people are going to get fed up with liberals and their hypersensitivity and their perpetually being offended all the time.

Left-wingers can engage in obviously racist behavior because they know “their intentions are good.”

Not exactly NO relation to Mexico. It celebrates the Battle of Puebla. But since Mexico LOST that war; why the Battle was important to the U.S., however, was that it demonstrated that an alliance of the British, Spanish and French STILL couldn’t project their force into the New World.

If they “lost” the war, how come Mexico speaks Spanish, not French (or German)? Maximillian lost his life and his empire, when all was said and done, after all.

It’s not racist if they do it.
They have dispensation.

It’s a holiday created so more marguaritas can be sold and consumed. And don’t even think about going out to eat Mexican food in Texas tonight. Today is my wife’s birthday. We’ll wait a few days before we celebrate.
To: VerySadAmerican
I don’t believe I had heard about the “holiday” before the early 90s

It’s been celebrated in the US since 1863. It has been a regional holiday, not national.

There is no real reason for Americans to celebrate the anniversary of a minor event in Mexican history.
But to make it meaningful, we can think of it as "Humiliation of the French Army Day."
To: Verginius Rufus
I guess there’s no reason to celebrate some Irish guy in March either, but people like to celebrate.

I don’t care if they want to celebrate it but I’ll be damned if I’m going to take down my American flag or tiptoe around to avoid offending them. They can kiss my gringo gluteus maximus.
