SUMTER, S.C. - Authorities say a 33-year-old man beat a woman to death with a hammer in a Sumter County home and hurt her 14-year-old daughter and a disabled woman in the home.
Investigators said one of the injured women managed to call 911 on Saturday morning, and deputies arrested Jason Compton as he stood outside smoking a cigarette.
Deputies say Compton beat the 44-year-old woman, then forced the woman's 14-year-old daughter to see what he had done. He continued beating the mother when the teen refused to have sex.

At least, the state legislature should approve the use of the firing squad if other means of execution are held up in court.

Common sense hammer laws. Though, as usual, the problem with such laws is if hammers are outlawed, only outlaws will have hammers.

Well call me a Barbarian too!(I do have the blood of Attila in my family) I also think James needs to die, and not the new mamby pamby let the bastard go to sleep die, we need to bring back the Electric Chair and use it PROMPTLY! This life in prison crap with all the amenities is not a deterrent.

In some locales, he will get in more trouble for smoking a cigarette in front of the 14 year old.
At least more chance of a ‘clean’ conviction.
By the time the ‘ambulance chasing shysters’ get through with it the victim will get blamed because she left HER hammer where he could get hold of it.
Some ‘people’ just don’t deserve to leave the scene of their crime other than in a body bag.
This one fits that category.
I like the red ant idea also.... a swimming pool stocked with piranha would be a nice gesture.
SC is a death penalty state, and they’re not squeamish about it. Compton is going to end up on a gurney watching death drip into his veins.
I am not a particularly violent individual, but these guys need to go down. No endless round of appeals, no moral ambiguity, no weeping and wailing over how they came to be this way. No histrionics, no sermonizing. Just a bullet to the back of the head. If they have enough pocket change to pay for it, charge them.
Can’t touch this.
