WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- The head of U.S. air forces in the Pacific said Monday that Russia's intervention in Ukraine had been accompanied by a significant increase in Russian air activity in the Asia-Pacific region in a show of strength and to gather intelligence.
Gen. Herbert "Hawk" Carlisle said the activity had included Russian flights to the coast of California, and around the U.S. Pacific island of Guam.
Carlisle said the number of long-range Russian patrols around the Japanese islands and Korea had increased "drastically." He said there had also been "a lot more ship activity as well."

The bear has been hibernating for a long, long winter. It’s only natural he will come out and stretch his claws a bit, sniff the air, and see what he can find to eat.
A weakened military invites this pushing of the envelope. Guess this is like what Sunstein meant by nudge as it applies to us. Now it appears the shoe is on the other foot, let’s see how they like it. I know we aren’t going to like it.
It aint like we don’t already have enough to worry about, now with our weak sister in the WH this can’t turn out well.
Think it is a long term goal of this bunch in the WH, to make our country ripe for the taking?

.... This is one reason why I suspect that the FAA narrative about the LAX/U2 Spy-plane incident on April 30th was a cover story for public consumption. I am leaning towards the idea that the same incident was in fact initiated by Putin and was intended as a message to the Whitehouse/Pentagon.
.... Think about it for a second ....... connect the dots .... The nations busiest airport .... LAX .... has it's Tower mysteriously shut down canceling hundreds of flights ... while Russian war-planes are flying off the coast of California. It's either just an incredible coincidence or could it be a message being left on the doorsteps of the monumentally inept Whitehouse by Putin.

The Chinese have also increased activity big time in the Eastern Pacific.
If they only choose one target I hope it’s a huge computer facility in Utah.
