US President Barack Obama released a statement Tuesday, conveying the "warmest wishes" to Israel on its 66th Independence Day.
Obama acknowledged the Jews' millennia-long struggle to return to their ancient homeland and their success in achieving that dream in 1948.
"Generations of Jews dreamed of the day when the Jewish people would have their own state in their historic homeland, and 66 years ago today that dream came true," he stated. "Today, Israel thrives as a diverse and vibrant democracy and as a 'start-up nation' that celebrates entrepreneurship and innovation."
He stated that the Israel-US relationship is "based on shared democratic values and our unwavering commitment to Israel’s security" and thus "has never been stronger."
"The United States was the first nation to recognize the government of Israel in 1948, and today we are still the first to come to Israel’s defense," he added.
Obama also briefly mentioned peace talks, which were torpedoed last month. The US has consistently remained in denial over the death of talks.

He is correct only because he says so. When there is no truth the talker with the biggest mouth is always right.

Trap door has fallen out of hollow premise. It has never been stronger, but that is not to say that it is strong. US fecklessness with regards to Iran and piece talks is based on unquenchable thirst for oil in the case of the latter, and perverse death wish or self-delusion in the case of the former.

Actually, the USSR was the first to recognize in ‘48. If we are talking militarily, if that would ever happen the US would be the first to come to Israel’s defense, because nobody else ever has or would, including the US. If he is talking diplomatically, more’s the pity that it’s true.
But translated into normal plain-speak, this means, “you need me, sucka. Without me, you’re all alone on the planet. I’ll make sure you stay that way.”
EMA is the only answer to this kind of double-jabber threat.
There's the kicker in this whole press release! Two-state solution that ensures that the Israelis will live alongside their neighbors in peace with security? Obama is apparently is blind to the fact that Israel can find no "Palestinian" party which can possibly govern a second state in peace and with security for Israel. There are no realistic "Palestinian" peace parties and have never been!!! Yasser Arafat proved that convincingly. Until the Palestinian mind set changes dramatically, asking Israel for a two-state solution is asking her to commit national suicide!
