House Speaker John Boehner instructed Rep. Trey Gowdy to "get to the bottom of Benghazi" after naming him to head an investigation into the attack, the South Carolina Republican said Tuesday.

Boehner appointed Gowdy on Monday to head a House select committee investigating the 2012 Benghazi attack where four Americans died.

I sure hope Gowdy has increased security for himself and his family. He has a huge target on his back now. We need to keep him in our prayers.

What was a CIA annex doing there in Benghazi as well as the “diplomatic facility” and what were those 30+ CIA operatives engaged in?

We can hope.

Here's what we cannot hope for: a Democrat Howard Baker, or a Democrat Lowell Weicker.

I hope for the best and fully expect the worst. Because the GOP has given me ample reason to do so. We will see.

The elites have too much to lose. I think if Gowdy get's too close then Boehner will sabotage the effort.

I fear the only way to get to the bottom of this is if someone on the "inside" has incontrovertible evidence that can presented.

It wont be Gowdy's digging that will get to the bottom of this, it will have to be some Patriot on the inside.

And if they do there will be no consequences. It's just another chapter in this corrupt "Two-Party Cartel".

I so hope that Gowdy subpoenas Reggie “body man” Love. That is, if he really wants to get to 0bama’s bottom.

I am surprised more hasn't been leaked.

I am sure the Marxists that infest our government have been working overtime these past 6 years bypassing or removing any Patriots in any position of knowledge.

Marxists are evil to their core.

Was Syrian weapons shipment factor in ambassador’s Benghazi visit?

By Catherine Herridge, Pamela Browne
Published October 25, 2012

A mysterious Libyan ship — reportedly carrying weapons and bound for Syrian rebels — may have some link to the Sept. 11 terror attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Fox News has learned.

Through shipping records, Fox News has confirmed that the Libyan-flagged vessel Al Entisar, which means “The Victory,” was received in the Turkish port of Iskenderun — 35 miles from the Syrian border — on Sept. 6, just five days before Ambassador Chris Stevens, information management officer Sean Smith and former Navy Seals Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were killed during an extended assault by more than 100 Islamist militants.

On the night of Sept. 11, in what would become his last known public meeting, Stevens met with the Turkish Consul General Ali Sait Akin, and escorted him out of the consulate front gate one hour before the assault began at approximately 9:35 p.m. local time.

Although what was discussed at the meeting is not public, a source told Fox News that Stevens was in Benghazi to negotiate a weapons transfer, an effort to get SA-7 missiles out of the hands of Libya-based extremists. And although the negotiation said to have taken place may have had nothing to do with the attack on the consulate later that night or the Libyan mystery ship, it could explain why Stevens was travelling in such a volatile region on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

(snip)

House Speaker John Boehner instructed Rep. Trey Gowdy to "get to the bottom of Benghazi"

Riiiiiiiiiiight.

Gowdy is too polite to tell the real truth, which is that Boehner knows that if he doesn't forward this select committee investigating Benghazi, that Boehner will likely lose his re-election.

Dude, this happened 2 bloody years ago!!! Maybe that’s why Boehner appointed him (just mean of me to say that) - but really, the timing of this right before the Ohio Primary and there is a Tea Party candidate hounding the Cry Baby. Good press for Johnny! Hope the good people of the 8th District send JOhn a message he won’t ignore.

Precisely the question that now one is talking about - what was Chris Stevens doing that day? Who was he meeting with? Why wasn’t he getting his requested security increases? Where did all those ‘guns & missiles’ go? Sure smells like an assassination to me with lots of bells & whistles to distract.
