Sen. Jay Rockefeller unloaded on lawmakers Tuesday, accusing some of blocking efforts to solve urgent problems during Barack Obamas presidency because hes the wrong color.
Rockefeller (D-W.Va.), who will retire at the end of the year, made his comments during a Senate Finance Committee hearing on transportation funding, saying hes confounded by the lack of will to keep ourselves from dropping into rivers and rolling over bridges that are no longer there.
Its an American characteristic that you dont do anything which displeases the voters, because you always have to get reelected here, he added. I understand part of it. It has to do with for some, its just we dont want anything good to happen under this president, because hes the wrong color.
Rockefellers tirade was sparked by the long-running dilemma over funding the trust fund that covers most of Americas federal transportation spending. Many lawmakers have ruled out a hike to its primary funding mechanism: the tax on gasoline....

He's a freaking commie red bastard.
These people are so obsessed with race...
By the way, isn’t Clarence Thomas the ‘wrong color’ as well?
Be sympathetic to these fools. It’s the only card they have to play.
Just more of the same old crap ... if you don’t like Obama’s policies you must be a raciest. BS
He is the wrong color.
I didn’t notice...is he Orange too?
The only people still playing the race card are from the left, and have a vested interest in maintaining the politics of victimization as a springboard to advance their socialist pogroms.
Sorry Jay Jay. Color doesn’t mean Jack to me. It’s his Muslim, Marxist and Communist policies that I have a problem with. And if you were a middle class American, you’d feel the same way, maggot.
Apparently he is not black enough.
Yeah, because (we) were so gentle with Clinton.
LOL - would some of “those”, Senator Rockefeller, be Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Tim Scott, by chance?
Also of the “Wrong Color,” Condi Rice, at least in the Racist opinion of THE SILVER KNIGHTS OF THE KKK at Rutgers University.
Yes! He is the wrong color - commie red.
A##hat spoiled rich “white” guy trying to suckup to the blacks race.
Red with a yellow stripe down his back.
Go home and count the silver Jay. They’re all gone.
They are complaining about that funny orange?
He’s the wrong nationality.
Yep! He’s communist Red.
His grandfather stole billions from the common folks by enforcing a monopoly on kerosene, then oil, at sky-high monopoly prices. If you didn’t cooperate (the trains that carried the oil), he’d knock you out of business. While John D did some good things (unlike this great-grandson) such as funding Williamsburg, he, like the green barons of today, made much of his money illegitimately.
And the race card is played for the gazillionth time.
Whats with this coordinate Obamas political foes are racists agenda that has suddenly cropped up? First I read that Crist (former gov of FL) said it, now Rockefeller. Its clearly coordinated talking point, possibly due of fear from recent polling. Its just too facile to cry racism. Republicans generally dont like the policies of Democrats and vice-versa. Its that simple. To inject racism into it is cheap, unhealthy and unnecessarily divisive for the country. It will just harden hearts on both sides and increase resentment. Im appalled by the leadership in this country. Only concerned for themselves.
EXACTLY! Its not about race. Its about policy. Its about beliefs about the best way to govern the country.
Suddenly? The Big Government GOPe and the Dems are in bed together, and they have been pushing this meme since before Obama was elected the first time.
True, but this isnt coming from some lacky on a political talk show. This is the second news story Ive read today quoting a prominent politician. First Crist and now Rockefeller. Clearly there is a renewed agenda by Democratic leadership to push this line (again).
The old fart is just projecting his own feelings into his white guilt tirade for public sympathy and attention. Otherwise why else would he have said it in the first place. Sorry Mr. Rockefeller his race has nothing to do with how we feel about him. I could compile at least 10 pages of lies and deceptive tactics he’s used to overreach and infringe on constitutional rights, his poor leadership qualities, his very questionable past and the fact that he had his records sealed before he became president, the fake birth certificate, people that had dirt on him that are now dead, his claiming to be Christian to get elected and then we find out he’s a Muslim who’s hired Muslim Brotherhood to work in his administration then sent financial aid and weapons to terrorists that really aren’t allies, trying to grant illegals amnesty in exchange for votes, voter fraud, etc...i could go on for hours maybe days....
Race, Mr. Rockefeller? Seriously?
I don’t give a damn about him being half black, or half white for that matter, but I do care about him being all red.............that’s the color that bugs me.
You know something. This pretense that all disagreement with Obama is racism is already wearing thin.
I don’t think anyone buys it except the hard core low-information morons.
It’s already lost any sting.
It seems every leftist politician and some celebrities have taken up the theme that people only critize Obama or oppose his policies because of his color. Even The Oprah was hand wringing and whining about this a few weeks back.
They can’t defend Obama’s failed policies so this is what they have to work with, and it’s also the first instinct of many of them to play the race card at any opportunity.
Hussein butt-wiper since 2008.
I am so glad you have decided to make sure Rockefeller is synonymous with socialism and racism.
You can tell when they start to worry about the truth coming out.....
The first thing they do is whip out the old Race Card
Remember the old riddle:
Q - What's black and white and read all over?
A - A newspaper
Q - What's black and white and red all over?
A - Barack Obama
Is it his fault that he's nearly 77, and ain't got a social filter no more?
Plus, his scuzin Mike got et by cannibals. Think that wouldn't unbalance ya a bit?
Yeah, I don’t care for the red at all. And no, Elizabeth, I’m not talking about Indians.
I know that Obama’s race influenced my vote back in 2004. That’s why I voted for Alan Keyes.
Some people are afraid of being called racist.
I could give a flip what color he is, Jay. It’s the content of his character that has me furious.
John D. Rockefeller, IV. Proof that you can inherit money, but you can’t inherit brains.
