Socialism is reaching its unavoidable conclusion in Venezuela where President Nicolas Maduro has begun introducing food rationing. A new food card will be issued to citizens called the “Secure Food Supply” card that is aimed at combatting hoarding and reselling. Shoppers apparently buy food which is heavily subsidized and resell it on the black market to secure profits.

Which of us didn’t see that one coming?

They’ll blame the U.S, because that’s the easy thing to do.

Meanwhile, the U.S. is heading down the same path as Venezuela and will enjoy the same results.

I hope nothing changes in Venezuela. Its people, for the most part, chose this path, and it seems the world always needs a reminder of the unavoidable, utter failure of socialism.

Venezuela is a nice little example too - made completely under controlled circumstances. No cold-war, no anti-colonial excuses, no civil war foiled on them by others.

Just socialism - straight up, in all its glory.

The real problem is scarcity caused by government overreach.
Hoarding and reselling are a symptom, not the cause of the problem.
Typical of commies to attack the symptom and blame people who are trying to survive and make a living and completely pretend the root cause does not exist.

The ideal solution from the governemnt point of view is to ration everything important, food, fuel, health care, etc. With every expansion of government control freedom diminishes, and since no politician or bureaucrat wants anyone to be free, the more control over the populace the better.

20 years ago it was the breadbasket of South America. Now the fruits of marxism are ripening.

The people that “chose this path” in Venezuela were the non-productive and poor that were promised more money and goodies.

Former U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy was best buds with Chavez and the two of them used his heating oil program as propaganda against President George W. Bush.

So Joe Kennedy should be thrilled that Venezuela now has the kind of government that the left pines for — You know, the kind of government where there are no winners, just losers, equally.

Great minds think alike.

I seem to remember the very first posts on FR with Hugo Chavez’s ascension to power were about how soon there would not be enough food or toilet paper on the shelves there.

It happens every time. Over on leftist websites the consequences will be totally ignored. After all, they won’t be living it. Or maybe it will be a “drought” or “global warming” that has caused the problem.

This rationing is coming to the US. Venezuela is the future
for the US. We are where they were back in the nineties. Is that so difficult to see?
Our future is very dark! The East/West theatrics in the Ukraine are the catalyst for the destruction of several US cities as well as the destruction of our currency and economy.
However, it will not be an overnight wallop. Oh no, the devious and insane elite will play this out for a while as they wring out of us our continued labor and value. Does anybody have an idea of how this can be stopped?

The liberals always want to put “People before profits”
but when you do, first you run out of profit, then
you run out of people....t68.
