GOP Wants More Control Over Picking 2016 Nominee

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Republican National Committee wants to take more control over how the party picks a White House nominee.

The RNC was to meet Wednesday in Memphis, Tennessee, to choose members who will effectively set the calendar for 2016's long list of potential presidential contenders. If the party's chairman, Reince Priebus gets his way, the GOP will pick its nominee more quickly than during past contests and have fewer debates in which candidates could criticize each other.

The RNC also was expected to put penalties in place for candidates who don't follow the committee's plans.

RNC officials described the agenda ahead of the three-day meeting. The officials insisted on anonymity because the entire 168-member central party had not yet been briefed on the proposal.

Because George Bush Sr., Bob Dole, George Bush Jr., John McCain and Mitt Romney were all too wild and extreme to win . . . . .

We need to settle on one or possibly two conservative candidates before the primary.

The RINOs that run the RNC will have theirs picked long in advance, one chosen RINO like Jeb Bush.

We will never get a conservative candidate to the general election by backing a gaggle of borderline conservatives (6-8) in the primaries, and have them rip each other to bits in a dozen debates.

The RINO moderate will get 35% in the primaries and WIN because the rest split the conservative vote 5 ways.

The way conservatives are playing the game today Reagan would lose in the primaries!

Conservatives better come up with a new plan quick and weed out the alsorans.

And how does Bush differ? Is he a better choice?

Not that I would ever vote for one of them in the Primary...

But I don't think I could vote for Bush even the General.

Hell, I'm leaning toward 3rd party and killing the corrupt whore known as the GOP.

Memphis? Wish I knew sooner, I’d take the 3 hour drive and go there and give them a piece of my mind.

The RNC wants MORE control?

They need a math lesson. There is no such thing as MORE than 100%.

Minor Correction:

Translation: The RNC wants to pick the elitist who will serve them best to run as the LOSING GOP candidate.

Not at all.

With the exceptions of Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and Sarah Palin, they are pretty much all corrupt.

If someone of their character is NOT on the final (general election) ballot, I won't be voting for POTUS.

No more sacrificing my principles and my morals so the "Lessor of two evils" candidate can win and move the GOP further to the left.

Not playing that game anymore.

I would like to see closed primaries. Republicans should elect republicans. Not independents or Commies.

This is why the Tea Party will never get control of the Republican Party. If we want action we’ll have to do it ourselves.

Simply being the base is no longer enough. It will take the base leaving, with corresponding decrease in the influence of the party, before conservatism can be reshaped into a damn-fool-proof mode.

The only way a conservative can win the nomination is if there is agreement on one candidate, not the “flavor of the month” we had two years ago. Ted Cruz, a limited government conservative and a realist in foreign policy, who beat a RINO in the U.S. Senate primary in Texas and went on to win the general election, is the strongest contender.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Hillary likely will *NOT* be the 2016 'Rat candidate. There's a very good chance that Benghazi will be the reason she eventually goes under the bus.

My real worry is that the Rat candidate will be Elizabeth Warren (provided, of course, that 0bama actually follows Amendment XXII and decides to not run for a 3rd term). Fauxahontas - the real deal socialist - would beat any RINO. And USV (United States of Venezuela) would not be far behind.
