Watch this successful 1.5 mile shot with a .338 Lapua Magnum rifle and a metal target. A few days ago I took out the 338 Lapua and attempted the 2,500-yard shot, Grizzman said. So I placed the target at 2,530 yards or 1.43 miles away, at that distance the bullet flight time is almost 4.5 seconds!
Holy chit! I’ve got to give them kudos for that. that lapua round is getting a reputation for long range accuracy.
I like the sound the round makes as it flies.
Crosswinds must have been nil. I’m lucky to hit stuff at 200yds, that’s why I have several shotguns!
I can remember many years ago, I belonged to a gun club which had a range with maybe a dozen or more various shooting ranges.
Using an Argentine Mauser standing, with open sights, it was not too difficult to hit 400 yard steel targets, maybe even a little longer but once it got beyond 500 yards it became a bench rest proposition. Beyond 7 or 800 yards and it was pure luck. I can’t even imagine a mile and a half.
My longest is 1k. Mostly because I don’t have place to shoot further...

Ballistic CALCFORMS How to Use / Introduction
I hope everyone on this forum decides they want to become an expert shooter and learn how to hit a 5 gallon bucket at 1000 yards with their first shot. It a challenge that's worth your time. That I'll guarantee you.
I’ve got a mosin nagant. I figure if I miss ‘em, the sonic bom from the round going past will knock ‘em down.
400 yds with a 45 70 government. Never did hit the 500 yard shot..close but no hit.
Used to bench rest with a 7 mag and hit the 500 all the time. I used FMJ loaded hot with that one.
To old now, cant see good and all that. An Mag Ten auto is my gun of choice now..if you get my drift. 3 and a half inch mags loaded with number four buck.
Ping for later.
I’d like to, but my old SKS ain’t gonna do it no matter how much book learnin’ I get and videos I watch.
What good is a shotgun at 200 yards?
