The War on Some Drugs is a continuing criminal enterprise of the big-government/big-corporate prison-industrial complex.

I remember this story. He originally claimed he was forced but it turned out he was making the big bucks for running drugs. I'm guessing he'll go to a nursing home prison and be out in under 18 months.

90-year-old man sentenced to 3 years in federal case has ties to drug lord 'El Chapo' (Sinaloa Cartel)

The sentencing guidelines called for Sharp to spend up to 17 years in prison, but federal prosecutors recommended a shorter sentence.

Sharp was a drug courtier for a decade, but his involvement wasn't noted until the traffic stop near in Washtenaw County. Then his "extensive involvement" was discovered.

This one is no innocent victim. He was supplying what most likely ends up as crack to everyone from Detroit to Toronto.

I have no sympathy.............if they’d give a 17 yro 3 yrs for this, they should give a 90yro..except for the 17 yro they would give him the full sentence of 17 yrs, because the young have to suffer more dontchaknow...

I don’t either, but I don’t know if this guy was “all there” and I don’t put it past hardened dealers to use whomever they can to tote their drugs around. That’s why I pinged Michigan FReepers; they may know more about the story.

How else are we going to build a nice, big Police State?

I guess the thought never crossed the minds of any of the police, prosecutors, court bailiffs, judges, prison guards, parole officers, etc. exactly why it would be profitable for a 90-year-old guy to be running drugs.

Guess they were too focused on their salary & pension swag...

Don’t care if he served his country in WW2. He’s a POS dope peddler. Throw the bastard in the slammer. Hope he croaks there.

Ilegal drugs fund terrorist groups. Chemicals they use on herbs to make synthetic pot the sell in gas stations to mostly kids fund a crime syndicate in China.

He was caught transporting 100 bricks of cocaine. You and other Obama voters have no problem with that!

Yep, he made the choice. Sad to say he followed the direction of many in this culture today...fast money the illegal way is OK.

I have a problem with swarms of Officers harassing our people, and eating out their substance.

The money is just as good, or better, in the ever-expanding Police State.

The difference is that the Police State Heroes get to pin medals on themselves, and are proud of their ill-gotten swag at the end of the day.

They're hauling cocaine now. They were hauling booze in the 20s.

I would be willing to cut him a break if it were marijuana and he was willing inform on the Sinaloa cartel but these were much harder drugs and the guy was willing to protect the terroristic Sinaloas.

Sorry dufus. You can act like cocaine is the same as booze but I don’t. Pathetic! You have no new thinking. If society is made the way you propose it will be a living hell and even you will begin to think so.

No, you're exactly right. Cocaine is NOT the same as booze.

My point was that we have an expanding Police State. Pretty much everything is "illegal". They were just quacking about "designer drugs", yesterday.

Designer drugs are designed to evade drug definitions. So, The Police State makes moar and moar stuff "illegal" until you can't buy asthma inhalers, or have bleach in your house, or possess empty 2 liter pop bottles.

If they to kill themselves with the junk, let them.

Only problem is they don't die. And you are taxed and will be taxed to support these druggies on disability scam payments and other welfare scam payments. So your clever libertarian theme which I have heard a thousand times (make all drugs legal and if users die who cares?)  in a FAIL

In my world a man transporting 100 bricks of cocaine gets thrown in prisons. The death penalty would be more preferable for big time drug dealers
The difference between you and me is you have death wish for the users while I have a death wish for the large distributors who get wealthy off of human misery

I'm not a libertarian. I'm a Founding Fathertarian.

The Founders wouldn't have tolerated a bunch of ne-er-do-wells strip-mining the public teat for payments for this or that. On either side of the welfare counter.

Please don't promote the Police State. The Founders took a dim view of that horse noor, too.
