5/8/2014 - DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. — A suspicious individual was reported near Building 706 at approximately 11:00 a.m. here.
As a precautionary measure, base officials implemented base lockdown procedures and instructed all personnel to shelter in place.
“The safety of our people is our top priority,” said Col. Randy Huiss, 436th Airlift Wing vice wing commander. “We take this report very seriously and are taking the necessary precautions to investigate this matter.”
More information will be released as it becomes available. http://www.dover.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123410195
There may be a homicidal maniac on base spraying gunfire in all directions, but we must never, never, never, EVER allow personnel to carry personal arms - they might hurt someone.
Granny with Dr. Seuss-type hat on and red-white-and blue sweater walking around?

any more info on mention at your post?
Yep...no doubt he had a Gadsden flag sticker on his car.
I’m so sick of “shelter in place”. How about ordering all personnel to “lock and load”?
I’m work on base, but no word yet as to what’s going on.
I absolutely cringe when I hear shelter in place!
do we still have any air force bases ?
What they do, find a person walking around with a copy of the Constitution?
It was a zombie!!!

Yes Im very worried. In particular, that he is either dead or this was a concerted effort to kidnap him, wrote Pelofsky at 9:06 p.m. Eastern the night of the attack.
Think you misread and your post is not correct.

When one suspicious individual can bring an entire US Military Base to a grinding halt, we are DOOOOOMED.
What are they gonna do if 50,000 ChiComs wash up on the beach?
Please keep us advised, please.
I’ll wait and see though the books are out there.
You make a point but it has a fairly straigtforward answer.
Airmen rarely have a side arm when working on typical duties of maintenance, support for air operations or the like even in zones operating in support of combat operations, let alone a base in Deleware. There are armed protection forces for plane storage areas and flight-lines and air base security personell but that is a small percentage of the total force.
There are arms stored in armories for rifle and pistol qualification or issue arms for certain duties, but these aren’t in every duty station.
When there is an active-shooter, there is a good number of the airmen on base that do report and draw arms in support of the security team. If everyone runs all over grabbing weapons it can create more confusion because the active shooter is sometimes in uniform, real or from outside.
A base I am familiar with, shot and killed a car thief who was attempting to run a blockade, so they don’t have a problem once they are sure that they have the right threat identified.
I will, but the way these things work, you'll probably know before I do. If I had to guess I'd say the incident is probably over by now, but it takes a while before anyone is willing to call "all-clear."
The lockdown thing is stupid. As stupid as the Boston lockdown. The kid never would have made it to the boat except for that lockdown.
Still under lockdown as of two to five minutes ago. Please, any info is appreciated.
So do I. But you've got to admit, it's a great way of consolidating victims.
Hold on ... please, hold on. Any lockdown can be the real deal. I know we all want pictures but let those in harms way remain safe. Am always concerned is this the first of more. Know am not coherent but that is the best I have.
BOOKS?? Out there???!!!
[ Maybe Clown Prince nobama went there on his current get-money trip? Now THAT’s one heck of a “suspicious person”! ]
Quick, someone there needs to count the number number of nuclear warheads there and make sure it matches what the record say there should be there....
my apology boots ... boots are out there.
Been those big green choppers flying over all morning.
Knew something was going on.
1 minute ago ... base is on lockdown.
Action News is told the lockdown went into effect at 11:00 a.m. Thursday as a precautionary measure, and all personnel were told to shelter in place.
“The safety of our people is our top priority,” said Col. Randy Huiss, 436th Airlift Wing vice wing commander, in a statement. “We take this report very seriously and are taking the necessary precautions to investigate this matter.”
I’ve received a rumor that security forces have detained several persons in civilian clothing in the area of the incident. Take that for what it’s worth. These could simply be contractors or other people unaware of the protocol for things of this nature.
Did Biden get loose again?
I absolutely cringe when I hear shelter in place!
So do I. But you’ve got to admit, it’s a great way of consolidating victims.
And training the lemmings to be even more helpless.
Stay friend ... stay with me. Hold in place.
dang it ... why can’t our people carry?
“Lockdown” is an old term applied only to prisons. The political/regulator class projects its desire for insurrection through its sponsored media, including tertiary Web outlets. The same class fears the remainder of the default process (no money and time, no more information or political control).
NO Clear Call yet ...
No, but the atmosphere is generally relaxed.
We did the “active shooter training” at JB Andrews 2 weeks ago. They list the following responses: 1. Run away 2. Hide 3. Fight.
The briefer later in the presentation said, “this isn’t a priority list, you can use any of them depending on the circumstances”. That did very little to offset the list. I would prefer, “1. retrieve your weapon from your desk drawer and engage, because the Security Forces won’t get there till a lot of people are dead.”
I was very disappointed in the training, even though the SSgt was doing his best.
