Possibly not. They lived in an expensive, gated community where Amish might stand out too much. I also live in a community where they might stand out too much and had a near brush with four probably illegal aliens who came to my door one late evening, knocked aggressively, and ran like Hell when they saw me approaching the door. I’ve never come so close with the Amish.

I would suspect a drug cartel. The wife may have been taken after witnessing the death/dismemberment of her husband because the cartel believes she knows where whatever they're looking for is located. She will eventually be disposed of also. Dead soul cartels, yup that's what I would suspect.
BTW, while Reynolds is a gated community, there is no guard to stop someone from just driving into the area, most of the time. If a croquet match or riding event or golfing event is going, then the entry is guarded/controlled.
